I suppose the position of each terrain deformation could be stored in a list and then this list recreated on a newly connecting client and then the deformations applied in sequence as per the list for that newly connected client.

Search for Login System Tutorial by Michael S on YouTube. I haven't watched them but they are positively rated and he uses php scripts on a server and a mysql database so that is exactly what you need to learn. Someday when I have enough time I'll study his tutorials.

I'll first start with modelling a really simple block man and rig the block man. At a later chapter yes I would like to make a vehicle of some sort!

Deformation to the terrain. It's certainly doable though I'd have to find out how to deform the terrain and remove any trees present at the location. Also what would be an efficient way to sync the deformation across the network especially for new players just connecting. I think I could do this and it would be interesting. I'll have to look into it more at some time in the future.

Yes the stats save locally on the players machine so when they join a game their old selections are remembered. The players name is saved to player prefs and it's just the same principal for stats.

1. By terrain destruction do you mean a minecraft like blocky terrain?
2. Yes, I definitely want to bring in vehicles / aircraft at some chapter. I've thought about this quite a bit.
3. Yes have a look at Edy's vehicle physics on the asset store. It is almost exactly what you're interested in apart from tires going flat. I'm not knowledgable in manipulating the mesh of a model by code but perhaps in the future I may have the knowledge to implement such a thing.
4. Yup character stats and saving them to playerprefs is covered in S1. I've actually abandoned character stats for S3, though I do want to build an inventory system at some point in the future for S3. An inventory system is a major undertaking and I did build one for Guild Commander. It would certainly warrant a chapter of its own.

That's certainly doable and would fit well with the S3 project. The first chapter is looking like it will be pretty big already, then in the second chapter my intention is to show basic modelling and animation and from there as many chapters as needed to make it a good and reasonably feature rich game.

I can't remember the last game I've played with parkour mechanics. I'm probably not the right person for implementing and teaching such a game mechanic.

I haven't sorted out the course structure for season 3 yet but it will be hands on like S1 and my objective is to make it focused and easier to follow since plenty of people are short on time. I'll be splitting it up into chapters so that I don't have to develop the complete project and then leave everyone hanging for the tutorials. I can release them chapter by chapter.

I've gone for Photon networking because all the NAT punchthrough issues are all gone with that and it really is so much easier to setup a game and then play with anyone in the world, which is what we hope for in a multiplayer game. The disadvantage though is that a paid subscription is required when exceeding the free concurrent user limit. Photon cloud is non authoritative which can be disadvantageous for some games but overall I think it's an ok price to pay for superior connectivity. I've been looking at Photon off and on for years and I think it's a really mature technology now.

Burgzerg Arcade is excellent and I think he's the first to make Unity and C# approachable for the common gamer.

Edit: Nah scratch the peaceful stuff. I honestly can't come up with an interesting peaceful first person project so I'm going back to blasting stuff like in S1 and it will be a run of the mill FPS :)

Unlike S1 I'm going to make S3 a peaceful multiplayer game. It's easy to add shooting and violence and all that but the truth is that I'm exhausted of violence in video games and this time I'll show how to make a peaceful multiplayer game that delves into different mechanics from the run of the mill FPS

I think I understand what you're saying. I think I need to explain what pieces make up a script, how to make use of the script, and how to look up the Unity documentation and Google to try and figure out stuff.

Would you like me to make a tutorial where stuff gets printed to the console using a script using Debug Log? Or do you want something to actually happen like moving a cube with the keyboard and where the bits of code come from and how I figured out that I was supposed to write the code in that way? I personally prefer the latter example.

Thanks for joining the group! I haven't yet determined what will be in S3. I just know that the first chapter will be a multiplayer FPS at its most basic, no character models and animations, just an S1 like capsule and multiplayer. Chapter 2 would then bring in a character model and animation and I'm thinking that I could show how to make a basic stick man like character in blender and how to animate it, but I'd probably first start with simple props like very simple blocky trees, buildings, and so on since 3D modelling in Blender is quite unusual at first. My ultimate objective is to add chapters until the game becomes enjoyable to play. Honestly I can't say much more than that at the moment, I really have to get the chapter 1 prototype out there for you to play first and then start developing tutorials for that (this is what takes me the most time, not the developing).
