So, I just finished uninstalling a now-removed-from-the-store game...Your Ball Exploded. It's another breakout clone, and probably the worst one I've ever played on the Steam store. I mean, usually even an asset-flip breakout clone is decent, because the dev usually starts with some kind of demo and then tweaks things a bit and maybe changes the graphics, so they're starting with something pretty workable to begin with...

...but oh no, not this one. The "ball" is literally a yellow circle drawn in the equivalent of mspaint (although the new version of mspaint would draw a much better one than this :caster_happy:). The bat/paddle is literally a blue rectangle. The bricks are all exactly the same graphic, level over level, but just change color. The power-ups (of which there are only 4...smaller bat, bigger bat, extra life, and multi-ball [meaning adding exactly ONE extra one]) just drop at random...they're not broken out from the bricks. The level design is almost non-existent, and consists of just drawing some borderless squares and rectangles to change the playing field, and slapping a bunch of the same bricks in that space. None of the bricks do anything different, ever (no double-hits to break, no permanent bricks, no exploding bricks, no treasure bricks, nada).

The controls are functional, but the game still doesn't "feel" good. Your paddle doesn't stop at the end of the available playing field, instead sliding right through the wall where the ball will bounce off, resulting in missing it in the corners sometimes. The control (or lack thereof) over the ball in terms of which you hit it with the bat seems random, as does the initial launch of the ball when you begin. The ball will bounce back and forth between two walls, heading upwards, and instead of reaching the top, will miraculously just turn around and start coming back down without ever having touched a wall or brick that would have changed its direction. Oh, and the green bonus balls for multiball regularly just bounce into a wall and get stuck and sit there forever. Additionally, you have an aiming reticle, but there's no reason for it because you never shoot anything. Looks like the dev just didn't know how to hide the mouse pointer.

The lack of control also means that it takes forever to clear a level. And, since playing is so boring, it's a ridiculous slog to go from one level to the next, which makes finishing the score-based achievements seem like an eternity. Not that it's hard to stay alive...the thing drops so many extra lives that you won't fear losing a ball at all. I think that at the end of level 2, I had 30 extra lives racked up...which by then I wanted to lose as fast as possible. :ds_why:

This game is terrible in every way, and its removal from the Steam store was definitely deserved. Don't make my mistake...you shouldn't even play this game for free. Don't enter GAs for it in Steamgifts. You'll thank me later for having avoided it.
