Extensions / addons / plugins improve or add features to GIMP

Note:
GIMP VTF Plugin Conflicts?
Use GIMP Version 2.8.0 for VTF plugin and the Normal Map plugin. If you happen to use the latest, you must do this[www.gimp-forum.net] to transfer back to 2.8.0

Installing GIMP Plugins

    With GIMP
  • Click Edit > Preferences > Scroll all the way down > Folders (Click on the + sign) > Plug-ins > Choose the first choice / whatever you want > Look to top-right of the preference window > Click on the button "Show file location in the file manager"
  • Move plugins into that folder (Be sure it's extracted from a zip if it's not)
or
    With File Explorer in Windows
  1. Copy (or navigate) the following path
    C:\Users\%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins
  2. Paste the path into the address bar of File Explorer for quick navigation
  3. Move plugins into that folder (Be sure it's extracted from a zip if it's not)
You can do the same for other things like scripts, patterns, etc. Just go back a level or two and see the corresponding labels
Note: "2.10" = Version of GIMP. When major updates go through, version number will change
