I don't have slack unfortunately. I don't know who the admin is that decided to give one player additional time to complete his turn.
- In my understanding the purpose of having a turn-timer is to advance games more quickly and when the time is up you have either don your turn or not.
- My understanding is that GMR administrator should help with technical issues but not give people more time if a turn timer has been set and a turn has expired
- If I want more time (or unlimited) to complete my turns I play games with no turn-timer.
If you go to game-room http://multiplayerrobot.com/Game#21450 it seems some players argue it is ok for GMR adminstrators to add more time for players upon request.
I never asked for extension when my turn-timer was up and neither was I on slack where these requests apparently are done. It would have been very handy the 8 times my timer expired but I thought the whole point of a timer was to do the turn in the allotted time.
I think it would make sense to clarify the policy on above.
Regards,
Id realy recomend joining, if you want I can post a link you this thread there but not many people are on these steam community forums. Its hard to see exactly whats going on as it sounds like some private messages where invloved. Overal i'd say that GMR admins shouldn't interfer, however, it seems that you recived a msage on the 13th and didn't respond to the 19th. Considering the considerable lengths of time in this case I don't think it was unresonable for someone to ask the admins since you couldn't be reached.
I stopped the timer on 8th of May on CS_Frankenbite request as he was going on vacation for 7 days.
On 13th of May, when I restarted timer it jumped to next player immediately. That was not fair so i reverted the time so Padoura could take his turn in the allocated 48hour window. He was happy with that.
On 19th of May Padoura didnt complete his turn in the allocated 48hours. He asked a GMR Administrator to revert the turn so he got another chance to complete it.
I was not happy that a GMR adminstrator reverts a turn after a player missed his 48h time slot. Padoura argues that is standard policy.
Padoura hasn't told which GMR Administrator helped him in reverting turn so I don't know his explanation or what the policy is? Maybe you could check?
Also Padoura just resigned from the game as I questioned the revert from GMR Administrator
Noone is debating that a GMR admin reverted back the time turner for a player so he could get more time to complete his turn. In our game we have 48hours to do our turn. Most of the players have missed the turn a few times.
1) I argue that it is undue interference of GMR admin to help individual players to complete their turn on time.
2) The player that got admin to revert time turner thinks it was ok (but he did resign from the game)
What I do like to hear is official stance from GMR admin. Will this happen again? Is this happening in other games? Is this standard practice?
I am not going to repeat myself here, but since Suigintou mentions it, I had obviously contacted both the host (General Grrr) and the player after me (surprise: General Grrr again) before contacting ayubalugu. He complains about the revert, but he has caused all the problems as an unresponsive host in multiple occasions (and he was not even the original host, just became randomly after the original one left his own game).
In any case, if you want to discuss rules for the role of a GMR administrator in games, let's first define rules for both 1) the original host of a game, and 2) the randomly assigned hosts after the original ones leave. And regardless of rules, General Grrr only managed to destroy a very fun game with AI turns and multiple empty AI spots (3 players including me left after this incident). Well done!
The game is progressing again. Two persons were replaced.
To make sure we don't get into this situation again the 48h/turn limit has been removed. Going forward everyone can take their turn turn at their own leisure.
It will be a much slower game .... but at least it will be equal for all and noone will miss their turn again becasue they didn't manage to complete it within time limit.
