Starting a GMR game from existing hotseat save
Hi,

My friend and I started a game using an existing hotseat game we started when we were physically together, but when I tried setting it up for GMR, the game asks her to take her turn, she downloads the file, she tries to load the save, and the game force quits with something like "Visual C++ Runtime asked to terminate in an unusual way". Is it not possible to start a GMR game with an existing save? Could I have set it up wrong? We're both on the same version of Civ and we have the same DLCs and they are enabled.

I’ve gotten the same crash and error message before on a GMR game. Not sure what exactly caused it, but reverting the turn and having the previous player redo his turn fixed it. My guess is that the save file became “bloated” due to something the previous player did (or didn’t do). You can do a google search about civ 5 GMR save file bloating and learn about it. There are ways to unbloat a save file if the previous player doesn’t want to redo (or if it comes directly from the live hotseat game). Hope this helps!
