An automatic system to restart all turn timers during downtime would be a welcome feature I think.
I was able to download 2 turns, but now can't upload my turn at all...

I've found that the AI don't use certain features, like if you gain a free tech while being played by an AI, the AI will not choose the free tech, at all, so it will still be there for you.
Strange, but very useful.

It also depends how many people are playing. I generally play 1 on 1, and if we are both online for a few hours we can get through quite a few turns.
I also play against my wife, and sometimes we will just play hotseat on my PC, and when we are done for the night, upload the save as usual.

Yes, it can seem tedious, but what is the (actually possible) alternative?

Unless you have a new theme in mind, I propose reopening theme 6 (ALL previous themes) for 2 months.
2 months seems like a better time frame to me for each theme, since all the current league players have a fair few games going, and new leaguers seem hesitant to begin too many new games.
It seems a shame that only 6 theme 9 and 5 theme 8 games ever got started.

If you get someone joining as one of the AI's, you could request an admin to kick them out of your game.
Either post here on the forums, in the "Chat only" game, or you could always send them a GMR message. I'm sure they'd be happy to help out.

If you are talking about things like the address where email notifications are sent, which notifications get sent, and things like that, they have their own GMR profile, so they can have things set however they like, and it doesn't affect the original players settings.

It would be cool if a player could say, "I want to leave this game" and GMR gives the game's admin / the option to send an invite link to another player.

This is absolutely already possible, but the original player needs to actually leave, then the host will have the option to invite someone in their place.

Not that I've actually had the need to do this so far. It would just seem a bit sucky if we're playing in teams of two, a player wants to leave and suddenly that team suddenly has a silly AI instead of a REAL BOY. :-)

That will only happen if you don't replace the player that leaves BEFORE his turn comes up again. If the AI does get a turn, you could just revert to fix it once you get a replacement.
There are plenty of VERY active players on GMR, so finding a decent replacement shouldn't be too difficult at all.

I think I read somewhere (maybe the blog post?) that there might be some kind of API under development? That would be pretty cool. Being able to hook into that to set up more robust notification options would be epic. Emails are fine, but some people aren't permanantly wired to their emails. I'd love to be able to post to Facebook or send an SMS or a push notification or something like that. Hell, even being able to send "reminder" notifications that you have an hour left to take your turn would be cool :)

The host of a game should be able to spam that one guy that has taken 9 days to take his turn in a league duel as well. Like seriously, hurry tfu man!

That is possible now Gump. The player that wants to give control to another player just leaves the game, then the player taking over joins as their Civ, before that Civs turn comes up.
The repeat in reverse to hand control back.

Since GMR doesn't check or care if you actually have Civ V in your linked Steam account, a player could create a new Steam account if they want to play more than one Civ, or take over for a buddy, and sign into the GMR site/client using the dummy account, while staying signed into the Steam client with the account that owns the game.

Could easily get a little complex or annoying though, and it would be absolutely awesome if there was a way to have GMR do all the work for you, either allowing 2 players access to the same Civ, or at least allowing the same player to play multiple Civs in the one game.
Not sure how possible it would be though, technically speaking.

I had another thought on the way home from work.
It would be great if we could list all the DLC we have on our GMR profile, or have it pick up the DLC from our Steam account, if that's at all possible.
The ability to search players based on the DLC's available would be even better, as it would make finding potential players a breeze, and possibly stop me from getting invites to games I can't join without spending between $12 and $70 on the DLC I don't have yet.
