extra map info: Spybase rc4 has been edited to match the layout of marsbase, the event version of this map, hopefully this will mean that the layout is already well tested as marsbase has been acepted already but if there are issues i am open to fixing them.

Layout

-removed the fence next to the bot flank spawn
-moved a barrel that allowed a player to get stuck if jumped onto in the right way

Detailing/Artpass

-fixed displacement holes
-add detail to hatch replacing the black void inside as-well as adding glass to the hatch window
-rotated the hatch to face towards the bot spawn rather than pointing to the side
-fixed gap in the dirt road overlay near red spawn
-added dirt road overlays for the other tank path
-rebuilt most displacements around the pillar flank to fix the excessive texture stretching that was occurring
-added rails to the drop-down flank above the front
-replaced all remaining shiny wood with normal looking wood

Gameplay/Misc

-fixed bots occasionally getting stuck in the container spawn
-fixed giants getting stuck on the bridge next to the waterfall
-moved the full ammo from being in cover on the start of the main path to being in the flank
making it less easy to hold that choke
-changed the first alt route ammo to medium to reduce the strength of that hold

Layout

added a flank to the bottom of the rock pillar in the centre of the mine

integrated the ruined staircase into said pillar flank allowing for more navigation for players

extended the ruined mine cart rails next to the waterfall to allow classes other than scout to utilise the route, to support this the mine-cart has been removed from the side of the rails closest to red spawn

added a bolder to the alternate bomb path providing more cover for players to play around

added planks to the rails on the alternate bomb path that improves the reliability of crouch jumps, hopefully reducing potential frustration and adding detail at the same time

added a flank route next to the blu flank spawn allowing players a route to drop on-top of robots coming from the main blu spawn

tweaked some lighting

tweaked the placement of weapons and hats on the upgrade station

Anything else you'd like to tell us about the map: nothing comes to mind as of right now

after numerous tests the current version is now marsbase rc2 , the biggest change with this update is the valley in the centre of the map being changed into a new play-space rather than a death-pit, there are numerous other changes all relatively small, lighting fixes and slight map geometry updates.

I've had a think about the layout and think i have managed to alleviate a few issues at once through map edits.

There are new flanks with the b4 version and the overall map length is shorter, one of the ways of shortening the map involved lifting the whole of first up and to the side to link with what was originally a hill, this means that all of first now above the red spawn - nerfing sniper without resorting to prop spam to break sightlines, the bridge that links the 2 sides of the canyon is now sloped providing some trimp potential for demoknights and hybrid knights
the blue spawn has been pushed closer to the position red holds to cut out areas that are death to flankers like scout and pyro who need to navigate said areas this also serves to shorten the map and reduces the time it takes for bots to hit the first hold which should hopefully make waves drag less

the outside soundscape has been swapped for Egypt.Outdoor which i feel fits the desert environment of mars better (am still open to changing it)

the lighting in the reactor room has been desaturated somewhat to hopefully avoid the eyestrain mentioned,

the god spots have been clipped off though there may still be others

the respawnroom is an easy fix, had the spawn room hidden and forgot to un-hide before compile (annoyed at self)

the god spots are also an easy fix as clips can be applied, same goes for the stairs and displacement cracks.

the lights in the reactor room can be toned down and made more even without too much difficulty.

ill see if i can find a more suitable soundscape

the main issue i see here is the layout as its already pretty set in stone, i can add flanks and height advantages as-well as widening some routes to allow for bot traversal but the big sticking point is the length, i cant see how to cut the map down very easily at this point, the only idea i have is to move the bot spawn closer to red and cut off the first area in the cave which would reduce the length somewhat, would that be enough or is a more radical approach needed? not sure if i would be able to map fast enough if so
