Nope. It saves your waves, meaning that you do NOT have to redo waves 1-3.

Highly unlikely that he would join right on the 4th wave of that map next time tho.

Yes. This is that one server which gets "booked" by demand of some premade parties, iirc.

(you can ask admins to "book" server for you at some preset date if you have 6-5 group of people willing to do the tour.)

I guess that thing with templates that come with map was already explained in newest announcement in the group, in that "confusion clearing pdf". Let me quote, "You are allowed to use bot templates that came with the map... without needing the permission from the author"
