What is the source of evil?

I have to somewhat agree with Absoul. Evil might've started as a result of some form of neglect or abuse and then turned into a perpetual domino effect of people wronging others because they were wronged. Sometimes the only way for a conflict to end is for someone to play a more passive role, but at the same time there are events where you have to find a way to stop the evil by removing it from the equation due to a particular person that might have absolutely no way of accepting peace.

I'd personally rather believe that there's hope from everyone, but there are creatures out there that lack the basic 'human' decency that shows reason and good will. The only way to really make a difference is to find that peace in yourself and become an example- not in one's own eyes, through the notice of others. Self-approval means nothing. You have to sacrifice a bit of ego to achieve that and a lot of people aren't willing to accept that self-sacrifice is necessary to achieve this.

'Course what do I know? I'm just a dull corpus merchant. What'cha buyin'? :Corpus:

While there are limitless possibilities in the world, one can assume that there will be nice people and not so nice people. To assume human nature is the root cause would be correct in a way, but it wouldn't exactly answer your question completely. Humans are very unpredictable, but we all experience stress in our daily lives, one way or another. We are programmed to want to progress in life and achieve some form of goal in our everyday lives (even minimal ones such as tasks), so when we feel that that is threatened, a negative response is expected - this has been explained by the previous posts with abuse/neglect acting as a form of catalyst to unkind behaviour.

To briefly expand on the previous two posts about abuse/neglect (although, if I take it out of context, I apologize), I will use everyday life as an example by using Bandura's self-efficacy theory.

While having a more internal locus of control and feeling as if you are able to take control of your life certainly would help one get over the hurdles in life, if one does not consider nor accept the value of the failures of the task and this behaviour continues - then there is a high chance that an individual will certainly feel more bitter towards others. Life is not going in their general direction that they had hoped for and are planning for.

For people with an external locus of control, I believe the same can be said, however they will blame it on their own misfortunes. How they respond to it, is up to how much they've given control or delegated everyday happenings to chance.

When extra stress gets tacked on to our already busy lifestyles in a chronic matter, people are going to act differently for a certain time and if there isn't an intervention, unfortunately it becomes them.

I don't think there's one true answer to why people exist like that, other than life just happens and they didn't make lemonade out of the lemons they got.

As for people who are evil simply because they are evil (meaning, before a negative stimuli is applied to an individual), I'm afraid I can't give you an answer there other than assuming that it becomes somewhat like a form of enjoyment to them or to them, it's a common form of talk to them.
i COMPLETELY AGREE, I WOULD ALOS LIKE TO ADD THAT PEOPLE ARE RUDE DBAGS BECAUSE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THEIR LIVES, BRINGING THEM TO TAKE OUT THEIR ISSUES ON OTHER PEOPLE
