EDIT: Initial post was not particularly elaborated, reason should speak over emotion and I was simply surprised about the paradoxical nature of what I had experienced.

Scientific studies increasingly seem to show a detrimental effect of technological overindulgement on cognitive functioning, ability to read emotion and socialisation. In some Asian countries, I would argue, you see the effects quite drastically (low birth rates, relationship avoidance soshokukei etc.). It makes one think, spent half a year in Japan.

Being a long term gamer myself, I am alarmed and start to see things from a different perspective now that I grow older. Social Skills are probably acquired and honed best within the framework of a hobby irl, I'll pick up martial arts again and maybe visit a convention to meet some people with similar interests. Can't deny the inner weeb^^
