Mistail (Scammer/Fake)
Alright, so recently I got scammed out of an unusual. A man claiming to be Mistail; this man https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561197994917687 (link is to real Mistails profile) stole my unusual through a trade glitch. He basically got me to trade my unusual to my friend Mike, who he then said he was going to "Check to make sure it wasn't duped". I said alright. Trying to prevent a scam, I told my friend to not accept any trades going to him. What he did (which was quite smart) was just to make a account that has the SAME name as mine, the same profile picture, and a similar link. So he basically made it looks like my friend was trading it back too me, but he really wasn't. He was trading it to the scammer.

So, another problem is that he has been changing all of his accounts names RAPIDLY. So, there is no real way to hunt down the person. So, instead I will give you some tips to prevent this.

1. Make sure you check the persons profile you are trading with, and look his name up in the community to make sure it isn't a false account
2. Don't trade with any trade banned accounts, that means they are usually a scammer.
3. If he tells you to trade it to a "trusted friend" and your friend is trading it back to you (or he thinks he is) tell your friend to make sure it is your account and not a false account similar to yours.

This was a lesser unusual (Just a Backbiters Billycock with a semi-decent effect, I was selling it for 14 keys so he didn't make it out that big). But I wouldn't doubt he has done this to some high class traders and got away with a lot of unusuals. The biggest advice I can give you is be careful. I was trying to my best to be as careful as I could, but it was not enough. Hopefully the tips I gave can help prevent further scams. I have been on steam for almost 3 years now and this is the first time I have gotten scammed out of something this big.

Have a good day~ Scott

Don't accept trades from ethier of those profiles, and please stay safe.

I already know that admin is gonna send that shitty link and not say anything else and lock it, but whatever. Might as well try.

Then why are you trying? As has been said before these posts don't help anyone.

The profile won't get banned since you provided 0 proof of the alleged scam and even if you did, this is not the right place to submit a report.

The chance of anyone reading the forum running into the same person is very slim and for all we know they could be innocent and you're just trying to start a witchhunt.

The method you described is a well known scamming technique and while the advice you gave is good, there have been numerous other threads on the forum describing the same thing.

I appreciate you trying to help but best thing you can do is report scammers in the appropriate places.
