Is having an alt allowed?
My backpack seems to always be maxed out. I want to make an alt for the purpose of trading items between the alt and my main account (this one). The alt will not be advertising trades on outpost, bp, bazaar, etc. Simply as storage space (and possibly games on it including TF2 of course). My question is if making an alt goes against any steam terms of service or community rules that can get my main or alt account banned (by steam or communities). I would much appreciate if an admin or someone with good knowledge of this would comment.

Thank you.

Having an alternate account is allowed, but you cannot use it or create one to avoid a ban on your main account. That would result in a permanent ban of all your accounts.

Is there any steam rule against having an alt? I will not risk my main account in any way if there is even the slightest chance it's against some steam policy. Thanks for the replies so far btw.

I don't work for steam, so I wouldn't know. I wouldn't think so, because things like family accounts or accounts using a similar internet connection (e.g School Wifi) could come up as alts.

Alright I suppose I'll make one when I get the time. Thanks for answering my questions

I got banned because the admins were thinking I was an alt of someone else, there is lots of proof im not anything near his alt. I am still banned tho, so could admins react. I get no reaction to my tickets..

You need to be patient, the admins will respond as soon as they can, posting here won't help.

The response from them depends on the avaliability of the admin assigned, ive seen some people wait a day, others 3-4 months.

okay thanks for anwering so fast, one last question, is it for admins really easy to ban people or do they need to discuss with other admins.

Well considering im not an admin i cant say. However I would say if sufficent proof is there, then a ban usually follows pretty quickly, and if it's wrong, well that's what the appeal tickets are for.
