Selling items not in your Backpack
Hey Guys

Let me start with an example - http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17761510

My view is that if an item is not in a user's backpack - it should not be put up for sale.

Just wanted to clarify as I have seen a couple of users using Bazaar.Tf bots to sell items and also put up their wares on the Steam Market. The items are not technically with the user....... However - they still sell their items on Outpost.

What do you guys think?
What's Outpost's view on this issue?

Thanks

I personally don't see anything wrong with this if you put in your notes that the item is listed on the Steam Community Market and therefore will not be in the backpack.

Seems reasonable. However - I feel that it will complicate things. For example - the user will need to provide proof that it's up for sale; How would be know when it's sold?

These type of issues tend to open up a Pandora's Box - If people are allowed to sell things that they don't technically have..............

The user can always link the item up for sale in their trade notes.

The trade would be closed.

People have more than one backpack for a start, they could have lent it out as well, just because an item isn't in that persons backpack, doesn't mean the trade is invalid. Only thing that matters is that the items not been actually sold yet.

Furthermore if you sell an item on the marketplace, it will be removed from your backpack even if its not sold yet, just listed.

People used to get extra backpacks when expanders used to cost 5 dollars. Now its not as necessary but people used to have over flow accounts.
