Have you been scammed? Talk to me!
Hey folks. I'm a games journalist and I'm currently working on a feature about the Steam economy. One of the things I'd like to include is an interview with someone who has been duped out of items by another user.

Specifically, I'm looking for someone who has been scammed in the most common way for legitimate users: you get a random Steam friend request, you accept, a guy proposes a heavily lopsided trade in his favour and hopes you don't know the value of your items, you accept. Alternatively, I'd be interested in hearing from people who have had a similar thing happen, but where the random Steam user instead offers to paypal you money for the item, but then never delivers.

If you've had either of these things happen to you, and wouldn't mind doing a quick Skype interview with me, please get in touch!

One last note: If you've been scammed via a third-party site like D2L of TF2O, I'm interested in hearing about that too, though it might end up falling slightly beyond the purview of this story.

Thanks everybody!

In my early trading days I fell for a phishing link on TF2 Outpost. The whole situation is a little behind me therefore I do not recall everything that went about including all the details, but I may be interested in an interview if I ever get the time to do one.

As a side not, I'd just like to point that what you described there is not scamming. That's called sharking and there's a whole morality issue behind it which is a bit different from scamming. A scam is when one of the parties does not hold up their end of the deal. A common example would be a Paypal scam.

Good to know. Either way, I'd like to talk to people who have been victims of either or.

This was not the correct thread to ask your question, but really it does not matter if the hat is duped. It is just a pain to resell sometimes because many buyers try to avoid them.
