Premium: To be or not to be
My premium just ended after the latest premium changes. I was thinking of maybe getting premium again but i read some comments on the forum saying that people avoid premiums. Can someone explain me why?

You get a green name associated with highballing and autobump, that is simply not worth 5 dollars per month to me. I use other trading sites like backpack.tf classifieds for normal items and sell unusuals on tf2outpost, that works best for me, especially since unusuals don't require bumping that much because there are not hundreds of each.

Again, this is all my opinions.

Other people just don't buy it as a protest, because they thought the donation privilegies were permanent etc etc, it's an endless discussion.

If you think that the features are worth 5 bucks a month, why not?

I think it's expensive too. I was gonna taking it simply because of the auto bump but the thing of being avoided by other traders kinda holds me off.

You also enter the credit card details and all your personal information directly on the site (unless you use paypal), that doesn't feel very professional or secure, if there were more payment methods maybe i would consider premium but not for now.

That's a flat out lie. Don't post if you don't know what you are talking about.

The premium page itself is loaded entirely through HTTPS.

For me, premium was easily worth it. If you are an unusual trader, item flipper, ect the 24/7 bumping is a fantastic tool.

Well in my opinion it's not worth 5$ per month for autobump and a green rocket logo. Well that is just MY opinion.

I find it hard to justify spending $5 a month for an external service to a free to play game, looks like I have to find a new trading site.

Permium is totally not worth it, you get less offers since your trade auto bumps rather than you bumping it yourself. For example: you'd be offline and bump, someone wants to buy but notices it's just auto bump and that you're actually offline. On the other hand non premiums are 99% online when they bump so they get more offers even though it's not bumped everyday. Unless of course you're inactive, then you get 0 offers :P
I'm just waiting for my premium to disappear, won't end up spending $5 a month I already gave $10 for a lifetime and then the update happened, feels like I was ripped off :/

Sources: I'm premium

Same, 5$/month is too much for auto bump.

The choice is easy for me. The price is too high and the market is too slow.

I think before the update it was too cheap to get premium, but now i think it's way too high. Didn't outpost admins have considered lowering the fee? I think it would bring a lot of people to premium.

I mean Outpost is great but comparing to like dispenser.tf when you can have your trades and your own bot for 50$ and it auto-trades for you.

Please think about it admins. If you lower the fee you will receive less per premium user but i'm sure you will have more people turning into premium so it will bring more profit than now

For me the two biggest factors are the lack of guarantee that you'll get what you pay for, and the price.

As someone already stated, if you donated more than $X in the past, Outpost gave you Premium status for life. Since they essentially lied to everyone who donated, there's no reason to assume that they'll keep your premium status intact, or that it wont drop or raise in price, or whatever else they feel like doing.

The other factor is price. It's currently priced at $60/year. To put that in perspective, I pay $80 per year for "unlimited" hosting for 40+ domain names with unlimited bandwidth, storage space and a ton of features from a reliable mainstream source. Hell, even services like Netflix are only marginally more expensive, and they use hundreds upon hundreds of times more bandwidth and spend thousands of times more on their staff and services. In short, I've paid a lot less for a lot more on much more valuable websites.

At the end of the day though, you should consider whether paying for premium benefits you more than the cost, if so then it's a fair buy, but personally it's hard to consider $60 for a green name and 25 extra trades good value.

If you don't think premium is worth it then simply don't buy it.
There are still lots of users willing to pay for premium and are satisfied. If it is working for Outpost then I don't see why they would change anything about it.

Maybe if it was appropriately suggested in the proper section you might be able to change something, but ranting about it most likely won't help.
OK, enough. If the topic is being used to do personal attacks then its time to be closed.

Some comments on premium and its pricing were made on the latest AMA: http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/23i8jj/we_are_tf2_and_outpost_people_sneeza_helenangel/

See: http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/23i8jj/we_are_tf2_and_outpost_people_sneeza_helenangel/cgxhvdp

We do have many people paying for premium, and the overall active users count has only slightly decreased since the premium announcement - pretty much due to the decline in TF2 trading itself. It's clear to us people didn't leave the site, even though a lot of people said they (or everyone) would.
