Are crafted items worth less?
So, I've been trading for about a year now and some of my friends just started to get into trading recently.

Although I disagree, my friends insist that general items (hats, miscs, etc) are harder to sell if they're crafted. They say that it makes the item less desirable. I'm not talking about low craft numbers, just random non-low craft numbers. They think this will deter potential buyers of the item.

Can someone please enlighten me, and my friends, on this topic?

Me, personally I look out to buy non-crafted items, because I don't want any names or numbers of strangers on them. I don't know if others think like this, but i never buy crafted items if it can be avoided.

You can remove the crafter's name, and the # number doesn't appear in the game. I don't care if it's crafted or no, I'll buy the cheapest.

How can i remove that? Teach me, master!
Open inventory in game. click on item hit the restore button below. Up pops a window asking to confirm. Same with removing parts, name tags, etc. What you want to be carefull with are buying into gifted items, people consider them trash, name of the gifter cannot be removed.
Yes if the crafted item said lets say crafted ny kleni, the you could hit that restore and it would wipe the crafted by off the item then it looks like a regular unique hat.
But to answer the question a hat is a hat. You sell it for what you desire and what the market will bear.

I didn’t know this. I knew you could remove custom names, custom descriptions, killstreaks, etc., but I didn’t know you could remove the name of the person who crafted a cosmetic. I assume it works with weapons too.

The "gifted by" tag and gifter's name can be removed since the Tough Break Update:

("Gifted by' Tag can now be removed from items via 'Restore?' Context action from the Backpack view")

Could you always remove the crafter’s name?
This i don't remember but i do know this. once i had a dispute with someone saying you cannot craft a level 100 hat. They were wrong, it is in fact a reality. i crafted them all the time. you have enough hats and eventually you will craft a level 100 hat.. this only worked when i had multiples of the same hats. each time i cratfted the hat got higher in level finally reaching level 100. trust me i still have a few and at one time they brought more value. but of course i had an entire account maxed in size with a minimum of 500 or more hats.....
