Suspicious people adding me & acting suspicious (New(?) scam)
:dsmagic: :dsmagic: :dsmagic:

I have had three people add me today, the first two I let get through to talk to me, as I thought they wanted to talk about a trade I had up on TF2Outpost. I blocked the third one as soon as I saw that he had this group in common with the other two guys.

They requested to friend me, then said "My friend wants to make a trade with you, add him please: (posted what appeared to be a legit looking profile link here)

I noticed that when I went to the profile link, although the url bar looked legit, I wasn't logged into Steam in only that specific tab in Chrome. And I have a billion tabs open right now, including a boatload on Steam. I immediately knew that something was up, and didn't attempt to log into Steam again from that page, even though it looked legit to me, other than the fact that I wasn't logged in.

Someone else just added me to their friends list, and I bet if I go look, it's going to be someone from this group trying to phish me again. Pfft, I've been on the internets since before those boys were born, I'd say. I don't fall for cap so easily!

Also a question: Am I allowed to name the accounts that are doing it on here, or is there a place somewhere here in the forum or on the main site for me to do so? I know a lot of forums and sites have a rule against "naming and shaming", but I think that it would be helpful in this situation. Those links really did look legit if you were just glancing at it.

This is nothing new. Those are automated bots spamming everyone. Report them (on Steam), block them, remove them, move on.

Okie dokie, thanks for the info.

I just got into the whole TF2 trading stuff in order to get games I want for cheaper by getting them through keys. :P So I'm a little new to this whole thing of being targeted for a phishing scam on here.

Donated today to the site as well, great place! :coindlc:

you can make sure if it is legit or not by carefully reading the link befor clicking it, if it dosnt have proper spelling it is bogus

There is no point in naming them, they literally have hundreds if not thousands of accounts. All you can do is report them to Valve, block them and ignore them.

I'm amazed people still fall for them, especially when their message is "i cant add u add me on steam".
do something smart and don't click on any links at all. zero clicking on links. never understand how this is a hard concept to remember.
