Due to Steams new trading regulations and policies it's highly unlikely you'll receive your items back.

If you were scammed/sharked, you will most likely not receive your items back, I've heard stories of some receiving deliverance from Steam Support, but those were fragile cases.

If you've been hacked or exploited system wise, you'll have a better chance.

As for the report, it won't do much, from what I've heard the public report system is just there to gather statistics and at times set off warnings, publicly flaming a user won't do you any good and can in fact result in a termination of your forum privileges.

I send you my condolences, but this isn't the way to go, if you want justice to be brought upon the culprit then please submit a report on Outpost, Fortress of Gaming, SteamRep and Steam Support.

You're not the first one to overreact, you'll never make a case against Steam and anyone working in any department of law would never be as so foolish to take on such an egocentric case.

Do you want to specify how someone stole your knife? did they promise you money? how did this happen?

You fell for an old-school scam, sadly as stated before, there is a small chance of Steam ever returning the item due to their renewed policy and regulations regarding trading.

As also stated before, it's recommended you provide this proof to some anti-fraud/trading websites, this way the user can be rightfully punished for their wrongs.
