Trading with someone with TRADE PROBATION.

Hey SteamREP, my name is Shickzter and I am a quite experienced unusual trader. I am buying a QuickSell off someone, but they currently are on a Trade Probation. After half year of trading, I have never came up with someone currently that has a Trade Probation mark by Steam. Though I have came across alot of Trade Bans. Is a Trade Probation something relating to Trade Bans? If it is, will I get banned if trading with the person? Will I get marked if I trade with them? Any information about Trade Probation you can give me will be very appreciated. FYI, he has Backpack.tf Premium and is TRADE BANNED on TF2Outpost. I won't name and shame now, but if you need his profile link... I will sure give it to you SteamRep Contributers!

From my understanding, trade probation is given dependent on the proof you provide in a report and the users past, taken directly from a Steam Support page,

"Upon receiving a trade ban your account gets placed into probation as well. Probationary status allows other users to determine if a user has committed scams in the past so they can make better decisions about whether or not they want to trade with previous scammers. Probationary status does not prevent users from trading."

As for if "it would be safe to trade with this user", we'd need their Steam ID to be sure, in this situation, all I could do is recommend to stay away from the user.

Seems like the user was banned for scripting on scrap.tf, this might of resulted in a temp trade ban leading to a ban on Outpost.

User also has no reports against them, so from the looks of it, it's fine, if you want to be extremely sure, i'd wait for an admin to respond.

The answer on SR should be comprehensive enough. A probation mark (that comes after a trade ban mark) alone does not count towards our "trading with scammers" policy.
