Game Trading for Profit
Hey I have some TF2 keys, and I was wondering if it's common for people to convert to Steam Wallet, buy during sales, then gift to someone for more keys after the sale. My concern is people won't be willing to trade because the game will have to be gifted. Can anyone here who has experience trading like this give me some advice on whether or not to do this and how to market my games so people aren't afraid of being scammed?

Thanks,
Evan

Game wise: scout the market for trending games, familiarize yourself with the game market of your choosing and make sure the game will have a stable sell price in the future.

Price wise: prices all depend on coverage, the better coverage you have in your games market the more flexible you can be with your buyout.

Insurance wise: just offer a ROW tradable copy of the game, you generally won't run into any skeptical or paranoid traders unless they're new.

So you're saying don't try to sell games that aren't tradable? I'm wondering if people will shy away from trading with me if I'm trading non-tradable games. I'm pretty sure i can make a profit buying off the Steam Store during sales and selling for keys afterwards, but I'm concerned people will be afraid to trade for non-tradable games and, as a result, I will have a harder time selling the games.

While your account isnt that new you pretty much have no games on it and also own almost nothing in the important games so people wont put much trust into you. There was/is still a huge business in the game flipping market and there are a lot of people with way more games on their accounts, multiple hundrets of dollars worth backpacks and long game trading history.

In comparision to them you look like freshly hijacked, you will already have a hard time selling giftable games, it will be next to impossible to sell non-tradable games with that competition.

Yeah thanks, but that wasn't what I was asking. I'm looking to buy on a sale and sell after the sale. The people that I'm looking to sell to won't be other traders so I'm pretty sure they aren't going to be looking at how many paid games I have.

On second thought, maybe I should give up on this stupid economy and all of its scummy low-ballers and big-headed "reputable" profiles and just focus on my real job, which im sure nets me 100x more than any of you ever make haggling over games and lowballing other traders all day.

Have a nice day
