I had assumed when you gift wrapped something and it says, in my case, "contains strange haunted templar's spirit" it would appear to people who search for templar's spirit and/or their matches when applicable. My test search reveals otherwise, my trade doesn't show up I search for templar's spirit, but it only shows up if I searched for carefully wrapped gift. If I had known this would be the case I would've waited to gift wrap it and it seems I've screwed myself because next to no one is going to see my trade and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. Your gift wrapped items up for trade really should be able to be found by the contents and not just by it being a gift.
