State price and sort by price
Search for the new cosmetic "Snow sleeves" and you'll get 15 pages, and based on the apparent price, people want anywhere from 1 ref to 4keys+4ref. Although in actuality, they really want between 10-14 ref for the most part.

See these for examples:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/24142936
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/24069695

These kinds of things force people to have to look at the notes of every trade to find the actual price and the cheapest.

Why not have something like backpack.tf where people have to state the price of the item they're selling, and then give users the option to sort by this price? It makes it easy to find the best deals, and at the same time makes it easy to find people that are stating inaccurate prices simply to bait people into their trades (for what good this does them, I have no idea).

The current system is a hassle and has made me stop using this site since backpack.tf makes things so much easier to buy and sell.

It would be impossible to sort by price since different people want different things, furthermore such a sort function would require keeping track of item prices. This would require a complete redesign of the site's mechanics and kind of goes against the idea of a free market. It would also render bumps and Premium subscription useless. In short, it isn't going to happen.

I can understand the fact that people may want other items besides pure, which would not fit in with the idea I suggest, but what it means is that outpost is no longer a site for knowledgeable traders that want to deal in pure. It's for people that don't realize faster and easier to use trading sites exist, sellers that want to take advantage of people that may not know these other sites exist, or people that want to swap unusuals, trade games, etc. It's something that is going to hurt outpost.

My idea would render bumps useless, which is a feature I can't imagine anyone likes anyways. Premium accounts could still exist: if two items are being sold at the same price, the Premium user's would be listed first. Premium users could possibly have more options for search parameters to find better deals, like searching for items with strange parts or killstreaks that are being sold at discounted rates.

I realize it may not be possible due to the entire redesign aspect, but I thought I would make my opinions known since I've largely stopped using this site for these reasons.

We are not your personal blog, if you have any constructive criticism then you are welcome to post it, otherwise just keep it to yourself.

OP: norby pretty much summarized why this will not be implemented. We have enough problems with people thinking items have an established value at the moment, even though try our best to let people trade without any market pressure.
