Requesting Trade Inventory History
Folks, I recently sold an item on Steam Community Market. Afterwards, a moderator from TF2 Outpost added me asking me to provide him with seven days of my trade history due to the fact the item somehow ended up in a banned users profile.

I complied with the request since my premium membership was being jeapordized, but the fact is I did nothing wrong by selling an item on the Steam Community Market.

Trade Inventory History is not public information, otherwise it would be available to all users.

Does anyone know if it is a violation of Steam's TOS to request trade inventory history from another user?

I don't think that any moderator would ask you for something that is a violation of Steam's TOS it was probably to help them confirm that you were not the one involved in the incident to clear you. I will not list another site but I have personally seen a lot of people take snapshots of trade history to use to help change the price of an item. Again if you felt this was out of the ordinary for them to ask, I'm sure you could have asked them there reasoning and then if you felt it was not good enough then explain why you felt the way you did! Hope this helps have a great day!
If you don't want to provide it, it's your right. However it is also our right to block whoever we want from using our service, specially if we our evidence points to the user breaking one of our rules.

We only ask for these information to corroborate other evidence we have, we don't do it for fun. And we only get it with the user's consent, hence noone here is breaking the Steam's SSA.

Understood, I normally would have said go f*ck yourself because it is my private information that I was asked to share. Although, I do have a $15 vested interest in your site due to my premium status. And, as I stated before, I complied to protect my premium status.

I am here to use your site for trading purposes, not for my Steam Community Market transactions to be scrutinized.

So as a paying-customer, I ask what is done to ensure that the evidence provided justifies a trade history request? I make over 2,000 Steam Community Mareket transactions a month. Why did I have to show my private trade history in regards to a Steam Community Market transaction?

Also, why was this request spawned by my ticket no notify admins that my trade was being spammed?

What's going on here is a real bad business model I see as a user of your services.

I'll repeat it: We only ask for these information to corroborate other evidence we have, we don't do it for fun.

The spam comment was hidden, so I don't know why you still have a problem with it. The request was necessary, again, to corroborate other evidence we have - we don't do it for fun. If you have done nothing wrong you would have no problem supplying information, our history shows only people involved in shady dealings refuse to provide information about an item/trade.

Bad business model is the one that allows people to engage in illicit activities, and we certainly are not one of them. If you have a problem with the way Outpost fights scamming and related offenses, you are free to move your business elsewhere.

I agree, and I don't engage in illicit activities what so ever which is the reason why I have a problem with all of this.

Paying $15, posting a trade, then opening a ticket for spam led to me having to stop everything I was doing and spend 30 minutes of my time justifiying what ultimately was a Steam Community Market transaction.

My apologies if we think differently and you don't see a problem here.

The problem is the community, not Outpost. The community spams, the community scams, the community causes problems. We take care of the problems that concern our site. We can't prevent people from spamming you trades, we can't prevent people from scamming other users. And we work with very limited tools, hence why we have to ask people for information sometimes.

There are many other trading services in which noone will ever ask you for anything. However, you may encounter quite a few scammers hanging around I'd guess for the exact same reason. I'd offer 30 mins of my time once in a while in exchange for a lower risk of being scammed at any time.

Also, remember that the "real bad business model" also voluntarily "spends 30 minutes" of their days making sure the community is safe. Try to put yourself in an 800k users community admin' shoes for a moment, too.

Understood, just sucks when the good guys have to take a hit on behalf of the bad guys.
Is what it is I guess.
