Report a translation problem
I honestly don't know who I pissed off or why anyone reported me. It's very frustrating. If I get any duplicate Snow Globe cards I can't do anything about it. Happy Holidays from steam.
It will probably take a week + but if you were wrongly trade banned, you won't get the probatation afterwards.
You must have bought some hijacked items. Check to see if anything is missing. It can even be craft hats.
I don't think I should have to prove anything, they keep logs of who traded what to who, and everything in my inventory was traded for through their Trade Window.
Does anyone know how many 'reports' against your account it takes to get suspended? Or why there isn't any sort of "Hey, you've been reported, you should be good or else" type warnings?
Typically after submitting a ticket it will take around 5 days or more before you get a response, be patient and you shouldn't expect to many delays in the process. Bumping will only create a longer waiting process and I can tell that you want to get back into trading soon.
Good luck to whatever the outcome may be though.
Edit to answer your question:
Steam doesn't just ban your account because someone hit the report button in a trade or on your Steam profile page nor do reports add up, they investigate into it. This is just an extra feature in order to help rid of bad users, et cetera. They can't rely on only a simple user report to ban someone as many can create their own biases against some.
My Steam Support ticket was answered in 16 days when I got hijacked awhile ago, since then new features have been added to help ease he flow of these tickets, just be patient.
I said prove ownership. Steam support is separate from your steam account. So you'll have to prove you are in fact the owner of your account.
And it does take around a week even longer.
And I'm sure no matter how many times people hit report in the trade window it won't end up with you getting trade banned.
Steam temporarily bans accounts that are involved in trafficking fraudulently purchased items (games, keys) for investigation. Like others have mentioned it could be due to buying hijacked items. Either way it will take a couple of weeks at least to have it lifted due to Steam Support being so slow.
Still not happy about it, but nothing I can do until they get back to me.
Best of luck.
would kick in before a ban is given............
1) Profile trading reports do stack up, and a warning is automatically shown after a certain number is reached. It happened to me. Trade bans, however, have nothing to do with these reports.
2) There is no common sense on these matters. It's up to the trader to check the history of the items. It is usually very easy to know whether an item is hijacked/stolen or not, but sometimes one may still slips by.
3) Support takes from one to several days to reply to a ticket. There's no estimate time.
4) Market offenses include a ban from the market as well, if you are not banned on the market then it happened on normal trades.
5) Steam usually acts only when they find there's enough evidence to punish the user. Explaining the situation might grant you a shorter ban, though.
I bought a stolen Earbud for Keys then I got trade locked..but then i contacted them, explained the situation and they removed me the trade lock after 3-5 days
SO NEXT QUESTION:
What are Steam, and TF2OP rules about having a second Steam Account soley for trading? I don't want to continue risking my 10+ yr account if this is how Steam handles this crap.

You may have/use an alternate account as long as none of your accounts are banned - if one is banned then all the others will be banned too and any new ones will be banned for ban evasion.
