Strange sapper and it's drop (of price)
Recently on the christmas update, the strange sapper was 20 keys and huntsman was 25 keys or a bud and were really great stranges which were really rare. However, it introduced festive huntsman which would be in a strange quality. This (obviously) decreased the normal strange huntsman at first to 17 keys, and eventually to 6. When this happened, the strange sapper plummeted as well to 8-8.5 keys for no reason. I believe that this was so the price would be equal to the huntsman and not seem overpirced, but I think other people also have other ideas. Can you please tell me why you think the strange sapper dropped?

There is a correlation between the price of the Salvaged Crate and the stranges it contains. If you take the average price of the stranges in it, you'll get more or less the price of the crate. The crate was worth unboxing because it contained some high value stranges. Once one of those stranges (the huntsman) dropped in value, it dragged the price of the crate down along with it thus lowering the value of all the other stranges.

That's one of the reasons, and the other reason in my opinion is the fact that Valve took so long to release crate #50. There were ~25k crates and their number was only increasing so people probably figured it's not worth investing in them anymore.

If I can buy crate #40s at $3 - $6 pretty easily from Steam market (before #50) and make 8 keys off of a strange sapper I will :-) Plus people want the Ap-Sap more even if it doesn't count saps.
