reporting "dead" trades?
I want to look at an old question from a different angle: When to report "dead" trades?

look here: http://www.tf2outpost.com/user/8538 the trade owner is 100% dead for half a year. Never replies, never accepts, never hides, doesn't react if you add him. I must have run into his trades at least 50 times since I am on outpost. This sucks.

report or ignore?

I ran into one dozend trades with the same problem just today. Some being not as long dead, "only" 2-5 months.

when to report?

i agree we should be able to report

The problem with this is that there are some players that just quite TF2 for a few months, and then come back. I do agree with the fact that trades should be taken down for months with out a response, but the accounts should remain, because users come back often.

I say that if a user doesn't respond after 2 weeks, close that trade.
Autobumps should really check when a user last signs onto steam or outpost.

So it is ok to sell one key for "offers", ignore months of requests, go completely dark and let 180 days and 3000 requests pile up? Even when your are not owning a key to sell? The only thing required is to autostart steam on system start and ignore it? With your friend list full people can not even inform you about the problem.

If this is the conclusion of the rules: Fun shall commence. We already have 100 trades "selling keys for 8 refined and now a message... yadayada"...

Maybe you should just remove the report option "not for sale" because by your rules your users will never ever qualify for "not for sale" except for rare cases which are handled automated anyway?.

logged into steam or logged in tf2o? Even if he logs in automatically sometimes, if he simply doesn't handle his deals for 7 months its still BS. And he is only an example, I think 10% of all trades on TF2O are dead and decomposing for many months.

is it ok to greasemonkey around those trades?

it is a simply decision, if a trade shows no action from the owner for two months I could hide it. there seem to be some scripts which seem to be sanctioned by Sneeza so I am optimistic. especially the tremendous powerful search filters are tempting...

LOL thats me. i thought i closed all my trades when i quit tf2. my bad guys. sorry about that. i like the idea if a user dosent respond for a certain time the trae should be closed not banned. just in case they return. again sorry!

i would think you would be able to press a botton that let you send a mail about the player dosent do trades anymore the admin could remove him from tf2 outpost but if ever comes back he can press a botton that let him open it again this must onley happens 10 times and the profile will be permenet banned beware that he must have all hes trades 100 procent dead in a half year thats my idea

If the player comes back he will get a notification that he has been inactive for too long, and that his trades has been closed or "frozen" but he can reopen them by pressing a button.
This function would only have a limited use.

Fixed that for you

Yeah, when I come across a trade where the trade owner hasn't answered on for months I report it. Admins/mods can decide if they'll close it or not then.

Last time I reported a dead trade i got banned for a day :-) But if you say so I'll now report another half year dead trade. If I get banned again I haunt you in your dreams and eat your shoelaces.

Wrong.

You were reporting trades based on the timestamp in the notes, but that only lists the last time the trade notes were edited. All of the trades you reported were very much active and the ban was deserved.

Actually that's not true. The timestamp doesn't change when you edit your notes (maybe you can see that, but we mortal human beings can't), it always shows when the trade was created. Even if it did list the last time it was edited, him reporting trades based on the last edit makes no sense. I mean isn't a trade that's been last edited more than half a year ago more likely to be abandoned than one that was created more than half a year ago?
