Origin of god-tier vintages
I've kind of wondered where some of the rediculously expensive vintages originated, such as vintage max's, big kill, the Fan o"war, the Concheror, and, in particular, Vintage Bill's. I heard that there was a duping glitch involved with the max's, alien swarm parasite, and companion cube pin but i'm not too sure of the specifics; however Vintage Bill's seems to be too cheap of an item when compared to the other glitched viintages. In addition, why is there such a price gap between the vintage kuna/zatoichi and the vintage fan/conch? if they both came from the same weapon update, why such a massive price difference? Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated :P

For vintage weps, originally the crafting recipe for the unique versions was very expensive. When the Mann-Conomy Update came out, valve lowered the crafting recipes and gave the people who already crafted them vintage versions. The reason fan/counch are worth more is because there are less of them than the kunai/zatoichi. The reason there are more expensive vintage is because they had a shorter crafting window and were introduced into the game closer to when the update for vintage weps came out.

As for the duping you are talking about, it is because people hijacked other people's account. Valve dupes items when they return them. This is also why on a lot of the vintage max's/ more rare ones, you will see the history has a lot of scammers.

The more rare vintages are believed to come from people deleting them and asking valve for another one which they gave back as a vintage. However, they stopped doing that quite quickly as people could just purposely delete it. Vintage bills are a lot cheaper compared to the other hats because there are over 1000 vintage bills, while max and alien swarm are both under 10. Gibus-22, lid-31, buds-6, medal-2, etc.
