Poor User Donations idea
I think there should be a donate to poor users function on tf2outpost. There are lots of players with lots of buds and stuff, and there are lots of players who barely ever get their hands on keys. Sure, some people are actually working to get such good items, but a part of it is luck. New players aren't nearly so lucky. They have no items to trade. they have to buy keys to get started. So why not let the older players give the new guys somewhere to start? Why not put in a Donate to Poor Players function? It would give those players who have clean records and very few good items a chance to go somewhere.

That's what I think. Opinions?

Would never happen, people would just make alt accounts and attempt to exploit it. Also how would you decide what is considered "poor"? Could I just sell off my entire backpack for money and claim to be poor because I have nothing? Plus with the vast amount of users, who would be first to receive items?

Sorry, but there is no feasible way to do this as a website. If someone was generous enough to do this, they may do so at their own discretion.

what if poor players had to sign up, and then had a background check by bots?
Currier Bell 10 Mar, 2013 @ 12:21pm
Then somebody would have to create a new login system and system of bots to specifically check backpacks for some specific parameters that define "poor", which has no concrete basis and is just opinion. The work in it would be way too much and it still would not solve people making multiple accounts to attempt to exploit it.

There is sadly no way to implement this without there being way too much effort for very little benefit to the community.

Well those "poor" players could idle or simply play for ~4 weeks and get enough weapon drops to turn into a key by doing nothing. Or if they really wanted to they could trade their way up to a key in one evening.

I've been trading for a while now, and that seems unrealistic to me. If there are any more opinions, feel free to say them.

It is worth donating, trust me. Even with a one key donation your trades will get a lot more exposure and you will gain it back in no time. When I first donated $1 it helped me so much that a couple of days later I went ahead and upgraded straight to lv3 donator status. It saves you a lot of time since you don't have to bother to bump your trades and you get offers even when you're not at the comp.

If you lack experience it might seem unrealistic to you at first but then there's the idling alternative. It costs nothing and in a couple of weeks you have enough to upgrade to donator status.

You have 40 games on steam, you are not poor.

1: I have 26 games on steam

2: Who said I was talking about myself?

How is that relevant?

I don't see a reason this should be part of TF2OP, perhaps making a trade with notes that it is for free, or a 'free item' would be in that direction.

It's something you might want to pursue as a project of you own.

I wouldn't advise that, since that could be considered against the rules (Don't make trades that aren't trades). If someone wants to donate to other players, then they have many places they can go to do it, just not Outpost.

It is a trade for an empty slot

But then TF2Outpost's mechanism kicks in, warning you that "You didn't specify an item to trade for".

You could just put "Tf2 Offers" in that slot or something like that and then put in the notes that it is a free item.
