This user sold me buds, I the checked the items history and found out it was apparently owned by another user, this user happened to be on this guys freinds list

There is no proof that he actually duped the items (and no known way of doing it that Valve hasn't patched). And selling duplicated items isn't against the rules seeing as you got the earbuds you traded for.

So far this is all speculation.
