What do you mean by color symbol?

In your bp if you look at a painted item it will have a a colored circle in the top right, they updated to have the halloween paints show up differently (for example my professor's pineapple is painted slate and has halloween spell putrescent pigment, it does not show slate it shows me its painted pigment)

As for being a sign whether or not they are staying, it was almost 1 year ago, and every person to play TF2 has loved the idea of color changing paints. They won't get rid of something if enough people like it, bug or not, I wouldn't be surprised to see new colors this coming Halloween.

Also Chimera nobody can say they are not paints that are in game, it just makes sense to me for outpost to at least try something for it...

It might be an indication that they are preparing for the Halloween update.

@HusKy no, bp.tf has not updated and neither has valve (if you look through you inventory from profile page)
I should have clarified, my bad. You have to be looking in your TF2 bp in-game. That means having the game up and running, not connected to a server, just open.

Nope for awhile it was if you have an item already painted (for example slate) with halloween spell (sinister staining) it would only show slate, and say in item description that it has the spell applied

Can you post a screenshot? I'd start the game but I have some expired items in my inventory.
