Auto-bumping "Currently not trading" trades, wtf!?
Is there anything we can do about those people that keep their trades open and on auto-bumping even if they are not trading? I mean those scrapbankers "out of scrap, scrapbank temporally closed" or those collectors "I'm currently not collecting" or people taking offers for weeks because "I'm just taking offers I'm not selling it by now"

Maybe if they can choose which trades should be on autobump and which ones shoudn't even without closing them, or maybe they just close them and open one alike in the future when they are trading again, I don't know maybe I'm the only one running into these kind of trades pretty often, what do you guys think?

Why should I have to deal with getting them back in sync every day? As a donor, I paid to have my trades autobump every hour and a half. I think it's basically false advertising if they bump at randomly different increments. It's inconvenient and unfair.

Are you serious?

The trades bump with 1 minute delays to stop the homepage filling up with one user's trades. It's not inconvenient, it's necessary. And it's not unfair, it's necessary.

But that one minute delay compounds, so every bump is another minute between every trade. While I admit that I did not see that side of it, I'd say that the minute is too long, especially for someone with a lot of trades, and that it should not add another minute if the trades are already spaced apart by the last bump.

I didn't mean to offend, which it surely seems that I did, it's just my two cents as a trader that is annoyed by this rather often. Thanks for the response.
Okay so, it's actually more a technical limitation than anything else. The script that performs the autobumps is run by CRON which has a minimum interval of 60 seconds.
I love that this guy considers trade synchronization "a far more important issue that needs to be discussed " than some search results being polluted at more than 50% by useless "current stock : 0", "not looking for more now", "currently closed", "READ ! READ ! READ ! I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE METAL!!1!" and generally people being offline since hours and won't be back for half a day. It's come to the point that for the small common stuff I don't even bother if the name is green/blue/orange.
Samhudson I don't mean to be rude, but even if you jumped here and totally change the thread subject from start (like, hey you want to fix this and I'm gonna let you finish but synchronization is wayyyy more important...) I think Sneeza already told you that 1º it's handy for the homepage and 2º necessary, so I don't know what you expect to achieve going off topic once again after people like "My real acount..." go back to it

I've seen your trades on outpost so I understand why you don't run into the problem I was talking about, but let's say that if you did way smaller less important trades, half of you matches would be filled with "currently not trading" trades, and they are not off for a little while like you think, they are off for weeks, I could show you some examples but I don't want to point out people.

-----

So goin back to subject anyone has an idea of how to fix this, for instance I don't think reporting this should be an option because that would increase moderators work and they should be keep for more important stuff, common sense would fix this so they close this treads and open one like it when they need it back but they seem to lack that common sense...

>>>>Sneeza, would it be possible to have next to notes and close trade a "pause trade" button? I don't mean, "We need this done tomorrow!" :P, more like, code wise, could that be done in the future? since when you close the trade you get that "You won't be able to reopen it in the furture..." pop up I'm not sure if the pause thing can be done, but it's worth asking for

See ya!

This, a million times this.

As someone who maintains these kinds of trades, I looked for a while for just such an option, and there doesn't appear to be one.
Actually I even forgot that I said that yesterday, and that's way better than the pause thingy, because it would help more users, for instance if you go offline you can disable autobump on your quick trades, and keep it on the "looking for offers" ones so you don't bother other users, can we have something like that in the future Sneeza, please??

Honestly I think this should be on top of the feature list. I hope it will be added soon, as a donator there's nothing more annoying than having to turn off autobumping for all your trades just because you temporarily ran out of something that people are very interested in.

80% of traders on TF2O lack the basic ability to read, they will add you even when you write in big red and bold letters "DO NOT ADD ME - I DON'T HAVE STUFF TO TRADE RIGHT NOW". Only thing that could be more annoying than this is having to close and reopen your trade every time you get new items.

tl;dr

Ability to enable/disable autobumping per trade. It shouldn't be too hard to add.

@Sputnik: If you have a suggestion stop spamming and go create your own thread.

That was in no way spamming, it was an issue that I had a problem with and was of a similar nature. If you have useless rude remarks, take them elsewhere. And why not stop perpetuating the problem that OP is posting about and close your trades when you run out of the thing to sell?
You managed to completely derail the thread with your own issue that nobody has a problem with. I didn't mean to be rude, I just told you what you should have done in the first place.

I also avoid buyng from dealers with green \ blue \ orange nick , because most of times theyr not online, while the non donors with recent bumped trades are certain to be online.
for that particular problem you could just check if the avatar is green (playing) or blue (online), like mine now, so you know we are online.... that's what I do works like a charm most of the time

When you click the trade to read the notes, or the username to add the person, it is.
No duh captain obvious.
