first time selling something for real money
So, I've got this green energy german gonzila, and someone wanted to buy it for 200$.
the thing is, that he was in such a rush, that he wanted to buy it for 200 if I sold it straight away.
but it was late, so I wanted to do it later (today) calmly.

But because that guy is so rushed about buying it, I don't really trust it.
Can you guys give me some tips? this is the first time I sell an item for real money

I have never trade for money, that said, if he wants to buy it from you he needs to have a rep thread in a trustable page, like sourceop (not outpost rep, not steam profile rep,..) http://www.sourceop.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=23 also here is a thread on steamrep talking about starting one, because I guess you don't have one yet http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/getting-rep-as-a-new-trader.2971/ usually if both are trustable traders, the one with less rep goes first.

Also check the guy on steamrep to see if he is tagged or has scammer friends, check that he has many games on his account (scammers makes alts all the time with a few games, he could be a legit user and have few games, but it makes you be more carefull) check that he has friends too (again things to see it's not an alt account)

One last thing is go to steam preferences an on interface check the "display steam url adress" so if the guy says "here this is my rep link" and once there you see that the user url doesnt match the guy you are talking to url, means that he's an impersonator.

I've also noticed some people tell the buyer to write something in the transaction description on ebay, along the lines of "I will not make a chargeback...." but I'm kinda clueless how that works

Hope this helps you ;)

PS: I didnt knew shit about how scammers behave until I mistankenly got a scammer tag (appealed and fixed on the very same day, phew) I learned a lot reading others people's appeals/reports...
I just checked and your unusual seems to be around 2 buds worth http://backpack.tf/unusuals/323/German_Gonzila so the whole rush thing+overpaying a lot might be a good indicator of a scammer attempt , I might be wrong but as far as I know a 2 buds hat doesn't equal 200$ worth.... see what happens when you talk back to him today, and if he act wierd take screenshoots of the conversation and such, because in the event that he trully is a scammer you can report him to steamrep

thanks alot man :D I also thought he was offering a high price. he started at 160$ for this hat AND steaming batter's. and he raised it to 200$ for only the gonzila in a few mins.

I don't really trust this guy, but if I do this with a trusted middleman or something, shouldn't it be safe?

This will be safe, but be careful because of impersonators. Theres alot of them!

ye but there's a middleman list on the steamrep site

http://steamrep.com/list/M

can't I ask one of them?
I don't really know how middleman and real money works, but if you can use it it might be the best choice, also I've found this mini help guide for trading http://www.tf2pricecheck.net/Thread-GUIDE-Trade-Tips-Advice-Megathread-v1-1 , scroll down to "Guide to Paypal" there might be some more help there ;)

some additional info: http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/76561198003988998-xxwarriorxx.9582/

it seems nobody really trusts this guy and he does this alot...
yeah, good thing you didn't fall for the whole rushing thing, he would have finally succeded scaming, maybe you could add some info on his report, so steamrep sees he is still attempting to scam people

srsly... 2nd one offering... offers 275$ for both green energy gonzila and steaming batter's...
again the rushing... and guess what?

srsly this is my first time trading for real money, and I will be damn happy when it's over cuz it's also gonna be the last time :p
unless it's really a super expensive hat, I'd say that you would be better selling it for buds/metal and then buying all the things you'd like inside tf2 or steam games, much more safe than real money trades, just what I would do

but the thing is that I don't really care about that fancy looking expensive stuff anymore, so I would like to make money out of it to use in real life :p
