So People Aren't So Bad After All
I just have to say this in defence of the good people of outpost. I realize there has and still is an increased amount of traders that are just plain nasty. You know ludacris prices, scammers, scammer dealers, just plain rude, abuses the report function, etc. Well I would like to let those who doubt the reputation of outpost that there are a myriad of good people out there. Today I found an amazing trader his name is The Voice. He well its very long but short story is he was polite and cut me a good deal. Today I found a guy new to outpost and warned him of the people that might linger here, he then thanked me for the welcome and heads up. So for those who keep complaining about the quality of traders, stop and help change it instead.

If you agree, in your post put, "I will be a good trader to help better TF2Outpost."

It's not so much OP that benefits from a more amiable community, but the community on a whole, not just this individual website. The amount of people I see who are legitimately rude though, is very low. If you are counting things like, hiding posts without a response as rude, then I'm afraid your overstating the problem. On some occasions, when I am trading, I'll wake up to 30+ new messages on my trades, I don't have time obviously, to reply to all the terrible offers (I'll giv you flies brain bucket - 1 bud + gud swwets).

As for inside the trade, I believe that the key is a formal, but not ice cold approach. I never ask someone how they are feeling or anything like that in trade, since to me, that seems overly familiar. My general approach for a pre-designated trade (i.e. I already know what they're buying) is:

Hi, how can I help you?
(Response)
<Quote's agreed price>
(Trades)
Thanks, have a nice day.
(Response)
Remove.

It's not rushing or hastening the other person, but it's business like, and polite. Obviously, the same tenants carry over to negotiations.
That's just my take on what trading should be like, as for the unsavory people in the community, don't fret, everyone has them, just chat strategically to avoid potential disputes, that's my policy.

I haven't encountered too many rude traders. People who can't read though are plenty or who have a complete lack of common sense.

No I don't count the hide post thing thats just silly I meant what I said genuine rudeness and etc. I know outpost the website doesn't really get improved but it helps users. Point is I have seen people just plain quit trading because of people on outpost.

I've seen people shouting 'scammer' at others asking 1 scrap above the normal price of a hat. Most rude comments come from people not agreeing on a certain price.

Also trading can be frustrating, when the 99th person adds you who completely ignores your notes you begin losing your cool and you start saying stuff you don't want. I'm usually a patient person but it's been times when I've been ticked off by some idiots that really made me angry.

Well if we all try not to lowball everyone and try not to get pissed at everyone that does. TF2OP would stop losing some people. Oh and I've seen worse.

Lowballing barely exists. People call any offer they don't like "a lowball" which is quite pathetic. There is a difference between making a margin for profit, and legitimately offering a stupidly low price.

Not making reference to your statement obviously, but just to the statement on a whole.

Well impartially that is true a marginial profit is fine in fact I dont really care. But its not just lowball its also how we treat others and etc. and lowballing occurs a heck of a lot more in the unusuals and higher items of the sort.

OP is full of scammers and price gougers

Lowballing is very rampent on OP (or any other trade site) when dealing with items worth several keys or more.

Lowballing is consistant in all forms not just the higher items. Although there is a hierarchy of which lowball follows. With increase of value so does the lowball, its practically linear.

I do not see much low balling for trivial things like hats (with the exception of the assholes who offer 1 ref for a hat), low value strange weapons(non salvaged), or tools. Someone maybe offers less but offering 1.22 on something worth 1.33 is not a lowball, offering .66 is. Where as with unusuals or high value items I'll get a 1 bud offer on a 3 bud item or some bullshit like that.
Poopsmcgee 17 Jul, 2013 @ 10:13am
OP is all about lowballing. I saw a guy that was buying a vintage luger for 4 keys and a bmoc for 8. I even saw a guy buying a strange original for 1 f**king key.
Id be satisfied with a successful trade if the person that added me would just REMOVE ME when the trade is finished. No i don't want to be your friend or play games with you so remove me when done.
gukingofheart 17 Jul, 2013 @ 5:09pm
Some traders tell you what your prices should be..when you do this, I will be mean back.
You don't go into a store and say "Walmart charges this price, so you should charge it to"
Respect the trader, and they will respect you back!
Geez, please don't necro post. This discussion was dead for 9 months...
