If you're new to MvM or you haven't played it much you shouldn't start on Expert. Even experienced players have trouble completing missions so there's no wonder that they leave when they see their team cannot even win the first wave.
If you need tips from good players join a Hard match. Ask them what class/weapons you should pick, where to stand and what you should do. MvM is all about ballancing, if a combination of classes is good for one wave it might not be good for the next one etc.
Otherwise just join a game on Intermediate and try different classes, see which suits you the best. This should be a breeze even for newbies and it's a good way to practice. :)
As for some tips:
- always have someone in your team who collects the money (usually a scout), this is essential and if you collect everything you'll even get a bonus
- spend the money wisely, always leave a couple hundred for the last 2 waves, you'll need this to power up your canteen and to respawn early
- about respawning, press h to instantly go back in game when you die, remember it costs money so don't waste it on the first couple of waves unless absolutely necessary
- learn to use the powerup canteen, you can fill it with all sorts of stuff then use it in the middle of a battle (temp uber charge for heavy, max building upgrade for engie etc) it's very useful and sometimes essential
- MvM is all about teamwork, your team must work together else you'll most definitely fail; communicate with your team members (a microphone helps) and always experiment with different approaches to completing a wave
There are lots of tips and tricks like airblasting the bomb carrier into a pit or picking up a sentry and running just before the Sentry Buster is about to explode but it would take the fun out of the game if I told you all. :P
