Ban commentary on pricing
I know that the rules specifically cover insults towards prices/making fun of prices.

Is there a reason that there is not a rule or rules that cover statements like "don't sell this under ### keys" or "take this offer" etc?

Lately there seems to be a lot of people commentating prices on unpriced hats and frankly its pretty silly. If they aren't going to offer the price, their words mean nothing.

"Don't sell this under ### keys" can be considered price manipulation especially if the user commenting owns said item, which is a bannable offense. As for "take this offer", I'd say that falls more into the spam category, if it's reported it will be hidden.

I make reports for what I see and I'm told to stop?

Also where on earth does it say I can only report spam on my own posts? I'm pretty sure that just got made up outta thin air :P

And then you've this one... which I just don't understand at all http://imgur.com/a/n22KE

I have to apologize, maybe I wasn't clear enough (shouldn't have used the word "especially"). The user would have to show clear intent of price manipulation as well as own said item(s) for it to be considered a bannable offense, otherwise it's more of an off-topic/unrelated comment.

E.g spam every single trade with "raise your hat's price to xxx keys, it's too low" just so it appears expensive when other users are searching for it and they can sell it faster or hope that someone would suggest a new price on it on backpack.tf.

This one falls more into the common sense category, their trade, their business. Some people don't care about off-topic comments and if they were hidden that would confuse both the OP, since they haven't sent in any reports and the users commenting, thinking the OP reported them.

To be honest if we take the word manipulate literally, just stating a number that one does not intend to pay is in itself manipulative in nature. Even if they don't personally own the item it is very easy to construe scenarios in which their friend does, they own a similar but non identical item (IE same hat), they own the item but have it on another account, etc. These numbers may confuse actual buyers as it is not always clear if the individual spamming is offering that, saying they will offer that or just spamming.

I suppose I'll go check invs on that one.

If the spam rule is not uniformly enforced I don't see its purpose.

But hey, your site, your rules.

This more or less circles round to my original question. Why/how is it ok to have first time/new traders with valuable hats spammed by pricing advice (often of extremely questionable merit/accuracy) in the forum where they are trying to sell their hats?

From what I can tell the stance is, its not OK, but unless they themselves complain nothing can be done. The catch 22 is they are inexperienced noobs who don't know any better so the vast majority of them won't complain.

Why is it ok that 80% of the buying trades state "i buy everything for at most half of its price" and 100% of the selling trades state "i sell everything for at least full price or with overpay"?

This is the internet, people always have and always will make comments on prices, especially since there is basically no trading community at all anymore, almost everyone is only keen on moving items around for profit.

I consider these kind of comments more or less entertaining, if a quickseller gets too annoying, just hide it and dont bother the moderation team with that unimportant stuff.

Dont like it? There is a very simple solution to avoid it: dont trade with humans. I can really recommend that, there is scm and a lot of bot trading going on, this saves me a lot of time and frustration. I only join the quicksell hell if i have to :demoticon:
