So who is right?
As judged in a court of law, you did nothing wrong. You presented the item as it was with no deception, and the buyer bought it, "as is, where is" with no promised conditions. I admin in 17 trade servers and for 90% of all the people who cry "SCAMMER", it is their own fault for not looking up the item value or for not looking at the item itself very carefully. Trading originally was done when one person swapped one item for another and nothing was of any greater value than another...but then the "MANNCONOMY" came into being. Some items became more popular and others were labeled at worthless based on what the "popular opinion" was about some detail of the item in question. Once the facts are shown, I do not believe STEAM REP or anyone else would ever find fault in what you sold. I have done thousands of trades and a few people have come back to me to ask if I would reverse the trade...some even as much as few days later. In most cases I gave them back their items, but not because I felt guilty. I did it because of THEIR attitude and how they asked me. A few may not have realized the value or missed some detail of what they were trading for, but most were poor noobs who later decided that the item or hat they had to have at that moment was not as good as they thought it would be. They were honest with me and I either refunded them or traded them something different. For those one or two traders who got in my face and threatened me with bad rep, I reminded them it had been a fair trade and that bad rep was a two-way street. So far, in my 6800 hours of mostly trading, I have never regretted my decisions. For those I refunded, I thought no more about them until I ran in to them months later in another trade where they reminded me of who they were and how much they appreciated my kind gesture when they really needed it. You can make a lot of good long-term friends that way. My final word would be to judge each trade refund request based on the facts and also the attitude of the person. I wish you good luck on your trades. God bless. Bird
