The problem with this approach is that people will most likely get used to it and just ignore it, and since you get the same warning for clicking on a link to steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com or steamccmmnity.com there's no distinction between the two. I'm not saying I liked the previous approach more but this could be improved by using a word matching algorithm (I forgot the name).

Most of the phishing links I've seen are a variation of steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com, tf2outpost.com or dota2traders.com. These could be easily detected and a big red warning could be shown to the user "This link is a potential phishing site, don't enter your login information on it". A similar warning could be shown for shortened links (bit.ly, goo.gl etc).

If he lied then this is pretty much scamming and is reportable. Yes he can be banned for this.

Yea I clicked on a link to another OP trade and received that warning. Found it odd.

Well to be fair somebody must have reported that offer, mods have better things to do than check if someone from the same IP offered on one of your trades. There must be a reason why it got reported and the reason is that someone became suspicous. I could point out several odd things about your closed trade too but I won't go there.

Either way you admitted yourself it was a fake offer and that you later got unbanned so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. If I were you I'd be happy I got unbanned.

IMO fake offers are a serious offense and should be punished.

Can you login to Steam? Are you sure you were trying to login to OP? Was there a green Valve logo in the url bar?

Wait, did this happen a few months ago or did the guy come back after a few months asking for a refund? Either way throwing threats is not nice, he didn't deserve to get back anything from you either.
