We don't typically allow price checks, but since this isn't a specific item I just won't into specifics about anything.

The most simple answer and the one that you probably don't want is a simple "it depends". Most users do not have much of a preference in the level of their hats, and it's more of how much you want to work at finding a collector than anything.

There for sure are cases where levels can make a big difference, such as glitched items that have an level that is unlike 99% of the rest of that one item, or vintages that can no longer be obtained (also the only items able to have a Level 0). But things like common craft hats won't see that much of a rise in their values.

In the grand scheme, the level is more a topping on the cake rather than the selling point for most things.

In your previous trades, you had one very large list containing each game that you were trading across many of the trades that you had up. We only allow one large trade for the purpose of selling every game in your inventory. As you have it now where each trade only has 8 items and does not cross over with the other trades you have posted, you would not be banned again.

Let me make one thing clear, I never said not to check the hats you're buying. Checking the hats you're about to buy is one of the most basic things that people should do to avoid dealing with scammers and this is the first step in keeping them from profiting off of others.

As for the duping question, I'll speak my opinions and I cannot say what the rest of the staff feels about this. I can understand why many people do not want a duped hat, I'm just not one of them that has it become a deal breaker for them. The most common way that duped hats come into existence is that someone has been hijacked or scammed and Valve takes some level of corrective measure to try and rectify what has happened to the victim.

I don't personally care about it because the majority of cases of it are not from some single person maliciously duplicating an item over and over for pure profit, but by swindling two people at once by stealing a hat initially and then selling it to a possibly unsuspecting victim, which could get them barred from trading. I just don't feel that it helps the community to then hit both of those two people with a double whammy after they've gone through all this trouble by suddenly telling them that their items are tainted and worth much less.

Yes there are cases of people finding exploits and there are cases of people knowingly buying hijacked items. I fully believe these people need to be removed from our community and I'll do whatever I can to help, hence why I applied for this position in the first place. I simply don't particularly care to hit everyone who is unlucky to be involved in these situations, as I feel it just separates us and just gives reasons to devalue other user's inventory.

Again, I don't say that people should be hiding the info and that everyone who wants to buy a hat must do a full investigation because they have too high of standards. I'm saying that users shouldn't have to be forced to give out info that is commonly used in ways to devalue hats, and that you should be checking any hat you trade for anyway because it's the best way to prevent scammers/hijackers from profiting.

Please do not ask for price checks on the forums.

Well some people honestly don't know and maybe honestly believe they have a clean hat. If someone were to come to them with proof, then they could no longer claim it to be clean. I wouldn't advise running to people's trades and just yelling that their hat isn't clean however, it's just in poor tastes in my opinion. You should be checking the hats you're buying anyway, so this isn't the biggest issue in my personal opinion

And to answer the second question, It is up to the buyer to ensure that the hat they're buying is up to their desired quality.

To think up as good of an example as I can, I personally dislike craft numbers on my hats. So if I were on a trade server where these are not readily visible, I could not demand that everyone with a crafted hat state that it would come with one. It would be up to me to ensure that the hat I'm buying meets my expectations.

You don't need to expressly state it, but you cannot lie about it if asked.

Do not use the forums to trade.

The previous post is correct. While it often seems like a trade is inactive, in most cases the user has shown some form of activity on the site. I have seen a trade that was a year old with no responses from the creator in months, while they were actively commenting on their other trades.

The biggest indicator of an abandoned trade usually isn't the activity on the site, but their activity on steam. That usually tells if a trade has truly been abandoned.

There have been plans for mobile TF2OP in the past, but they have been put on hold.
