You should not make assumptions if you are not dealing with the problem.

From what I can see, many of the phishers are not actually bots. The person simply logs in from their computer and post comments in specific trades. A bot would have a consistent way of spamming the trades, and this is not the case, specially because sometimes the phishers even reply or report people back.

Therefore, captchas are not a solution either.

They just are, and for an indefinite period of time, sorry.

From a programming point of view, any solution that is not a complete solution is a waste of time and resources. Adding multiple filters or conditions just obfuscates the problem.

This topic is getting repetitive.

The only solution I see is blocking from display any links that are not whitelisted, thus not even the really clueless people - those that would still type letter by letter a wrong link in the address bar - would have their account hijacked.

It's from the movie pulp fiction, when Samuel L. Jackson supposedly quotes the bible (Ezekiel 25:17). I personally find it a very good alternative to "Phishing" as a ban reason ;)

Trades that have been really abandoned can be reported.

Currier Bell said most of it already, but here it goes:

1) Number of hours played means nothing;

2) Backpack value means nothing;

3) A big share of everyone accused of scamming claim that it was their brother, sister, cousin, aunt, dog or fish who actually scammed, never the account owner.

4) Your appeal was denied by an admin because it provided no useful information other than "it was my brother".

5) Your appeal in the forums was declined because you don't have a scammer or caution tag on steamrep.

6) Site bans are handled in the site, not in the forums.

7) If what you claim is really true you most likely will need to gather real evidence of it. Just saying it won't make any difference.

8) Making multiple posts about the same issue will only make things worse.

9) If you knowingly end up with items traded from marked players, in this case your brother, you will be marked on steamrep too, and this will ban you from several TF2 communities and trade servers.

10) I could get an admin to review your case, but that depends on how you will deal with this from now on. It must be worth their time.
