Click on the Offers tab at the top of the screen. Any trade that was closed should appear dim, so check those. If there are none, go to http://www.tf2outpost.com/settings and make sure "Hide closed trades from 'My Trades' and 'My Offers'" is unchecked. Then try again.

While I've never used or heard about PaySafeCard before today, I've seen several similar payment services. Often in cases like these, the scammer relies on you not having heard about the payment system, and thinking it's a "safer alternative to PayPal". Unless you have a really good reason to believe he's legit, you'll probably learn about chargeback scams the hard way if you accept.

Here's a fun experiment: Tell him to buy keys with that money, and see what he says. I almost guarantee you he'll try to make up an excuse as to why he won't and it's his way or you get nothing. He'll then try to pressure you into doing it his way by saying if you don't hurry up he'll leave, or that he has something to do. If he really wanted the hat (which he'd have to if he were spending more than $100 on it), he wouldn't leave that quickly, and for that amount of money he'd understand you taking precautions. If he leaves, you just shooed away a scammer and you should feel proud.

Well that doesn't really have anything to do with Outpost, but with Valve. None of the Outpost staff (or for that matter Steamrep staff) can do anything about it.

I'll admit the report button is a nice idea in theory, but the way Valve has it implemented is really flawed; a lot of legitimate bots end up with that warning, and I've learned to ignore it, which makes me sad because a lot of smarter traders are probably being conditioned to (what should be) ignore serious warnings because Valve can't figure out a way to implement it in any meaningful way.

Those same people are probably jumping from server to server, and avoiding that one server (which itself had nothing to do with this) will probably get you into the same mess once it goes away, maybe even from the same traders.

Nothing has a stable price that "can't be debated". Even craft hats, which used to be 1.33 refined metal, are tending a little lower in recent months. Protip: Enforcing pricelists on people will often get a rude response. But that's another completely different topic.

Also, I wouldn't say the problem rests squarely on unusual traders. There are plenty of rude name/description tag resellers, craft hat resellers, and key resellers that are just as bad, if not worse. Many of them refuse to update their prices because fewer people will add them, but will act rude if you disagree with the new unlisted price. Some will autobump when they're out of stock, and flip out if you didn't check their backpack before adding them. Some will just list something at an absurd price, often several times, just to troll anyone looking for the item, and then list it on the next backpack.tf suggestion as "proof" keys need to go up again. Specifically in the case of unusual trades, the prices are a lot more ambiguous, and traders will only accept offers for a period of time so they can get the best deal on it, and if they say that but you add them for your offer anyway of course they'll get mad or expect something outrageous.

I just checked and you aren't marked on steamrep, and you aren't banned from outpost. Can you clarify what you mean by "it says im a scammer for everyone who trades with me"?

The topic is about rude traders, not necessarily greedy traders. I've dealt with quite a few who are outright rude, regardless of their prices. Some insist on "checking my inventory to make sure I have stock before adding me" because "this trade autobumps and I'm not going to keep coming back and updating my trade". Some outright lie about their prices in the trade when you add them. Some fill the page with ALL-CAPS remarks about how if you add them or comment something they don't like they'll block/report you. A lot of rude traders do put in something about "price is firm" or "no lowballers" but that's not the primary complaint in this thread.

And yes, items have prices. Their price is the equilibrium between what owners are willing to sell for, and what others are willing to pay for it, heavily influenced by supply and demand, and that's what something is actually worth. Sometimes pricelists like backpack.tf influence (or manipulate) prices, and sometimes items are too rare to ever reach that equilibrium, but selling established items for astronomically different prices (or buying insanely cheap) tends toward sharking. If you want 10 keys for your strange sapper, and the guy above you only wants 5 keys, then no one is likely to take your deal.

In reply to OP, I usually look at the way a trade and comments are written to decide if someone is worth dealing with. If they look rude, I go to their outpost profile to block them, hiding all their trades from search results. This includes a flood of CAPS and different colors in the trade, threats about blocking/reporting people, or items that have been listed for a long time with lots of ignored/hidden offers. If they just have a price that's too high, I skip it and move on if they aren't relisting, there's usually someone trying to get rid of any given item and selling for a lower price.

then it sounds like a relist to me. The problem with relists, which is one of the reasons so many people hate outpost, and likely the main reason for the rule prohibiting them, is it drowns out other people's trades.

It's especially bothersome with "quicksell" trades, because people have to scroll through page after page, often looking at the same people's "quicksell only" trades before finding a decent deal. A lot of people have become so frustrated with that they wrote userscripts to filter out donators[userscripts.org] and in one case built a whole new website[bazaar.tf] from the ground up to compete with outpost. Sure, the frustrated people who give up filtering through all the garbage and settle for a bad deal are what make such trades profitable, but you have to think about the other people posting fair offers (and only one, mind you) and the users trying to find those trades.

So basically 1 quickbuy trade and 8 relists of that same trade then?
