It is only possible to have obtained buds through the promo of using an apple computer just like the tux is (supposed to be) only available through using linux. I would have to agree that the tux is less attractive than the earbuds but it is rumored that tux will be paintable and the tux currently has multiple style possibilities.

ON THE OTHER HAND:
In the non-private inventory of steam users there are an estimated 60,000 earbuds to an estimated 32,000 tuxes (both to +/-100 as according to stats.tf) making the supply nearly half as many. I do not know wheter or not the tux is the new buds but I would be incredibly amazed if the value pans out to be less than about 10 keys.

Finally,
As you probably know the amount of a particular item in existence doesn't effect it's value much. But the fact that after a certain date (idk off the top of my hea) there will be no more legal means of obtaining this item does. The value of an item is still based primarily on how it looks, it just so happens that there are more bills hats than most hats valued at 1.33 yet they are worth more than 25x as much. The other hand there are about 1/4 as many athletic supporters for every bill, also only achieved via a promo but it is an ugly hat valued at 1.33.

The main problem I'd say with being on mobile is accessibility because on the actual site you hover the mouse over the "bump", "close trade" and "comment" buttons (that is more difficult to do on a touch screen phone"

I personnally use the tf2outpost site during school on my android phone. There have been multiple times that I have added someone from outpost to trade and saw that they had their phone steam app going (obviously they traded from computer though).
I believe they should make a mobile version of the site to make things easier and faster to use when people don't have access to a computer.
