This game has a massively customizable moveset. As someone who doesn't play many combo-focused games I was worried I would feel overwhelmed by the sheer options but it's done a good job of easing me in, even if I had to die a few times to understand. The inputs are directional like platform fighters, which also made things much more accessible. I love the spell system of being able to choose specific spells as your neutral, up, down and side "B moves".

It's like an art program but for combos.

(Recieved for free because I was a kickstarter backer)

This is a version of Runescape for those looking for a more hardcore, unforgiving experience. After maxxing twice in Runescape 3, I am currently trying an ironman osrs experience. I highly recommend it.

(Actual playtime over multiple accounts as of 18th oct 2020: 274 days 17 hrs)

I used to play this game as a kid in 2007. I didn't like how the game started making big changes to its graphics and gameplay, so I quit in early 2008. For 5 years the game continued to grow, making even bigger changes such as an overhauling of the combat system. But I didn't care, I just wanted to play the game I loved back in 2007, and wished it could be preserved somehow.

In February 2013, a big decision was made and development was split into continuing development for Runescape as it is now, but also bringing back an old backup of Runescape as it was in 2007. A year later, it went free to play and word finally got to me, and I rushed to play it. I got addicted in seconds and was so happy to finally have this game from my childhood back.

I did everything I missed from before, questing and and skilling to make up for lost time. Once I had finished doing every single quest and seen all over the world, I found myself wondering about where the base game of Runescape went and what direction it took. I curiously logged into Runescape 3 and, 5 years later, I've maxed on two accounts and completed all quests on 3 accounts. I think I liked it.

I wanted to share this experience because I feel like a lot of OSRS players could come to the same conclusion I did, if they were willing to look past the stigma and go in with an open mind. Many issues are blown out of proportion out of a sense of tribalism and I think it's tragically unfair. The developers have a wonderful sense of integrity, some locations are surprisingly beautiful, and the lore is a rabbit hole that'll keep you entertained for years. Please try it out!

(You may notice I have many more steam hours on OSRS than RS3: This is because jagex only allows you to link a steam account to one runescape account. My OSRS and RS3 accounts are seperate, so I had to choose one over the other to play on steam.)
