The only situation I could ever recommend this is if you have a Steam Deck and nothing else, I wouldn't even recommend it to someone who has never played Gears of War because their experience would not be the same that I had as a youngin

"experience it like never before", yeah it's never been this bad. the reduction in the blood effects for a start is just sad. yeah lets take away the explosion of guts when you rev a chainsaw gun through a locusts chest, the most iconic part of this entire franchise yeah lets do that

"faithfully remastered" because Xbox loves lying to their customer, "optimized for PC", you can get it running better via emulation of the original game I bet

No split screen in one of the most iconic splitscreen titles of all time is heinous. i'm only going to finish this game because my original disc is no longer working. Do yourself a favour, if you want to experience Gears of War then ask a friend who owns the original on 360 if they want to play splitscreen

Wartime horror is a sub-genre that is seriously overlooked, there's something uniquiely terrifying about being pursued by something more deadly than the battle going on above ground

Frictional Games made the tried and true creature feature scenario feel refreshing and scary as ever. The sound design is top notch from the monster stalking you within the walls to the ringing of your ears after gunfire in a confined space

Resource management is critical and timing your fuel usage to navigate the dangerous corridors makes you plan your next move everytime you return to the main manual save hub, checking your evolving map and making decisions on where to venture next

Manually checking your weapons and seeing the limited rounds left to protect you only further enhances the fear factor and dread. Although the bunker itself isn't huge, the exploration pacing is really well done as you find new tools that allow you to unlock new areas previously unavailable or make you revisit them after picking up some more items like grenades to blow up locked doors

Awesome and rewarding game, randomisation of each run and the ability to tweak different mechanics in new game plus is a really cool feature

Finished the story mode in a single sitting straight after finishing Alan Wake and it was really fun to continue the combat with an expanded arsenal of weapons

The addition of extra modes is great too, it's basically a standalone DLC. There's not a lot to talk about without spoiling a ~2hr game so my 2 cents is if you enjoyed the base game then you'll like this as it's some extra content with repeatable modes if you really liked the combat system. If you didn't then stear clear

Really great combat systems, awesome and well thought out weapon variety with epic set pieces and sick mechs? Sign me up

This is my first armored core game to be fully transparent but to the uninitiated AC 6 is mech combat perfection

Everything feels dialled in and crisp, giant guns will be self loading while you swing your plasma blades around like a maniac. Changing your AC build mission to mission with different parts can entirely change your playstyle and allow for high level experimentation, while a lot of the enemies can be fought with the same loadouts some bosses will absolutely require you to change your build which keeps encounters fresh

It's hard to go into details of the various set pieces without getting into spoilers, you really have to experience them for yourself. My biggest complaint with some of the missions is they were so cool but could feel a tad short at times, I appreciate that they would want to balance mission length so most builds aren't running out of ammo every single mission but extending the playtime by a few extra minutes would've been welcome

Flip-flopping between who you're working for was a fun way to see the different sides of various characters, sometimes friend sometimes foe

This game is proof that FromSoftware can write and tell a cohesive story that the player can follow without reading item descriptions or looking up lore videos. I get that hardcore fans of FromSoft get off to lore details being obscure for the sake of obscure so they can be pretentious about being in the know but for people who just wanna get home from work and understand what the hell is going on it would be great if they could bring this going forward for future games in all of their franchises

Never buying Energizer batteries again, they last like 2 seconds. If Bright Falls stocked Duracell then Alan wouldn't have had any of these problems

Mixed review, Mortal Shell does things I do like and things I don't. Unfortunately not enough to make me want to finish the game

Getting performance out of the way, the optimisation a very polished. Getting 200+ frames maxed out in 4k without DLSS, that's something you barely hear these days

I do really like the combat animations but there is not enough weapons so they get old pretty quick, especially with the lacking variety of enemies, you will be fighting the same ones for a long time and it gets old. The harden mechanic is cool and allows you to survive a blow when you over extend but it can make a lot of the fights very repetitive as you will just have your combo preplanned for majority of the foes you face

The concept is interesting, being able to switch between playstyles via shells without having to spend time respecing but getting resources to upgrade is very slow. Later in the game you can swap between shells in combat which is really cool but I don't know how much you would actually use that. The familiarity mechanic of learning what items to by actually using them is something I wish other games in this genre would utilise, often soul's type games can end up with a giant inventory of stuff you never touch because you don't know the best time to use it so they go wasted

For all these cool ideas, the generic locations and repetitve combat just didn't grab my attention enough to make me keep going. Crawling through different tunnels expecting a pay off and getting not much in return wasn't very rewarding for players taking the time to explore

I'm very aware this was created by a smaller team and what they have achieved is impressive but it became too much of a slog to continue, hoping the sequel gives them all the resources they need to expand on it's depth and the initial trailers look very promising. Will be keeping an eye on it

What's your go-to at the gas station?
For a drink?
Drinks, snacks. Let's see what Rob eat. Snacking and drinking on.
Lemonade? Okay.
Does the body good, quenches that thirst.
What else, what do you snack on?
We do a little bit of this, little bit of that. Get some gummy bear, some kitty kitty, some emmy.
Trucker diet right here.
That's right baby.

Absolute Cinema

Dispatch is story telling excellence perfecting the Telltale formula with a stacked cast, brilliant style and characters you will grow to care about

A joy to play and re-play, I'm normally not the biggest fan of superhero media but Dispatch makes the characters feel like people which a lot of other franchises fail to do. The characters feel like someone you'd know in real life

The hardest part is deciding whether or not I want to see more of this universe or let a fun IP just be it's own thing for once. At any rate, looking forward to what this studio does next
