I played this all the time as a child and this remake makes the OG feel very barebones. It's very faithful and yet expands heavily. The devs have continued to update and fix all sorts of stuff including a cute little free DLC (as of the date of this review). Game looks and plays beautifully, and for the cheap price I 100% recommend. Also it plays perfectly out the box on Steam Deck.

One of the best games of all time, definitely my favorite multiplayer game ever. This was definitely the most fun you could have online. Sadly, this isn't the case anymore on the casual servers. Valve refuses to do anything about bots/cheaters despite community outcry and continues to accept money for loot boxes and microtransactions. This doesn't foster a good environment or experience for any new players, so regretfully I cannot in good conscience recommend this game to ANYONE. If you've been won over by people's positive words or videos on YouTube, go play on community servers, preferably vanilla servers. It's not ideal but it's the best we have until Valve stops disappointing the world.
