Excalibur skin is meh. The gold color settings don't work with any other helmet. Got the pack when it was 50% off.

Toxic community punishes new players. Steep learning curve. Maybe am just no good but I have no time to grind.

UPDATE5 (Sep 14, 2022) 4,550 hours played:

I have changed my review from a +ve to -ve NOT because of the AoE nerf (Sep 2022) but rather because of the melee range and wall-through damage nerf years ago. The Ember and Banshee nerfs years ago.

Not to mention the stupid Operator changes and removal of OP void dash.

Every nerf in this game is purposely made to slow down gameplay and efficiency even though since 2017 the game has been all about speed and efficiency.

I guess more players now realize how much efficiency nerfs actually suck but everyone was content when melee spin-to-win, Ember and Banshee were nerfed? Lmao. Enjoy

At any rate, I share the sentiments of most negative reviewers.

And Tencents grip is already starting to be felt on this game with Prime Resurgence along with "evolving" cosmetics from Tencent's other mobile games. If you don't think that that's the case, you're just in denial.

UPDATE4:
3,600+ hours. This game just keeps giving. Lots of content added every year. New content bites added every 3-6 months.

UPDATE3:
1600+ hours in, 10/10.

Absolutely worth it!

UPDATE2:
Am positive the people who don't find this review helpful are the fans. Don't want to accept the truth!

ORIGINAL:
Way too much grind. Only for people without lives.

This game seriously made me question what I am doing with my life and so I stopped playing video games altogether. For that I should give it a thumbs up but I won't.

UPDATE:
I hate a scale based rating cause cons for me might be pros for other people. So here is everything I discovered in my 21 hours of play spread across two installs cause I had given up the first time I played this game months ago as well.

- Brilliant graphics, visuals and character design specially the Warframes
- Game is actually fun when you are getting used to it but becomes very repetitive in 20 or so hours. I cannot put in 1,000 hours to unlock everything with the amount of repetition present
- Stuff tied to a paywall: Almost nothing, only very few things are pay to get. BUT everything has a pay to get faster option and otherwise the grind or wait for most things is unbearable. This is understandable and acceptable considering its F2P. That does not make it a good thing
- Platinum costs are all over the place. On average I can see Platinum costs of 75. Even with the largest Platinum bundle(4,300) you can only buy ~57 items. Now that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I got very close to buying Platinum till I did the math
- Game has been designed for co-op in mind. This is evident from the missions in the 3rd location Mercury
- In my 21 hours of play did not experience a friendly community or people willing to help out. New players are exiles in this game
- Boring to play solo so you better have friends who take a liking to this
- Rich lore filled world I want to learn about
- Rich lore filled world that I am never told anything about
- Bland supporting companions, the Lotus and Ordis
- Over 270 locations spread across a galaxy map with various planets and space stuff. Very overwhelming for new players
- HUGE maps with repeated layout
- Varied missions but eventually it comes down to getting to the objective as fast as possible(slide-bullet jump-slide) and moving on
- Way too many weapons and Warframes to pick
- Way too much stuff to unlock
- Good upgrades system for weapons and Warframes and again way too many mods to apply
- Crafting is a pain
- Challenging difficulty as the game progresses but piss poor AI doesn't help
- Decent leveling system and good progression
- Mastery progression is painful and worst locks story progress, meaning after a while switch to new guns/Warframes which would likely lead players into buying Platinum
- Piss poor AI unless they swarm you

Most of the negative reviews for the game are from people who have a lot put time into it so probably know how the game has shaped over time and are genuinely disappointed. Can't tell for sure cause of the large number of reviews but guessing that most positive reviews are from people who played it and moved on.

Excellent game.

UPDATE:
That being said, not the game I was expecting and not the game Ground Zeroes was a "demo" for. This game showed off fraudulent demos at press confrences and a lot of features never made it into the final game as a result of optimization support for PS3/X360 versions as well as a result of being owned by Konami.

Not a real MGS game. But a very good game nonetheless

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. Metal Gear Solid at it's best. This is what MGS should always have been. Best part is, despite using a fully responsive third person control scheme, the game retains the Metal Gear formula while blending it with realistic gameplay mechanics.

Loads to do despite the small map and short mission times. Buy it on sale.

Waiting for The Phantom Pain.
