Now an open-source game that needs some patching love. It still is fun for the value of the game.

However, this game committed a cardinal sin I can't forgive. While literally 5SP away from finishing my first real OP class, I accidentally hit "enter" on "escape". Without warning it reset my classes and passives and restarted the game. All my work down the drain.

At ~15 hours to complete the campaign using my own creations with an external (cheat) map, I can barely recommend this game for the single player alone. Barely because I bought it on sale 50% off.

If you are looking to pay full price, make sure the multiplayer is something you are interested in.

There is 2-3 quirks I ran into, such as magnets not turning on (maybe only visual issue?) and the weird saving of blueprints. Physics are surprisingly good compared to similar games (Besieged).

The best description of the singleplayer is a cross between Spin Tires (mudrunner) and Terra Tech.

As a new player, this game has a huge learning curve. I played ~5 matches and the community experience was bad each time. A mix of people mad because me and other noob skins, and a mix of people arguing over IRL things.

Because the learning curve is so steep and the (first impression) community is so bad, I don't recommend this game.

Here's some beginner tips:

It's "protocol" to refuse (ref) on node 1 (n1) until 4/5 refusals have occurred. See the vote failure on bottom right. 4/5 refusals is called "hammer". Refusing on 4/5 will cause hackers to win the game.

In a 5 player game there are 2 hackers. If you are an agent and it's a 3 proposal node, then if you aren't in the proposal you can deduce there is at least 1 hacker in the proposal. Thus, there is no legitimate reason for you to accept.

If a player is in a 3-proposal and they refuse, they may be looking for "info". That means, they want to see more proposals.

Early Access Review
The game had a steam issue during Go-Live and the dev was very responsive and got the issue resolved quickly. This is the kind of interaction I like seeing in an early access.

The game itself runs well, and I'm enjoying it. The game is fairly polished, but for a puzzle physics builder, I can see some more refinement making it more enjoyable.

There seems to be a lot of workshop support, I haven't tested any of it, but contraptions + level builder caught my eye.

I only have one complaint. That is, all the early levels (so far that I've played) have proximity mines. I think this is so you'll build more efficient contraptions and fudge less, but it seems a little more daunting than I'd hope.

"Voxel Harvest Moon" describes this well. If you like farming in Minecraft, you'll love this game.

It's a great multiplayer game to relax with.

As far as I can tell, doesn't include jukebox songs.

I bought this to support the game, but I'm sad that it doesn't have jukebox songs.

Mute literally doesn't work all the time. It comes undone in pre-lobby, during game, and post lobby. I have to mute vulgar voice literally three times a match.

Original review below.

------------------------------------------------

I recommend this game a little. A little above neutral.

Portal mechanics are great. Portals don't suck you in nearly as strong as portal. This is a good and bad thing.

I haven't seen "Trap portals" like some commentors, then again I don't use enemy portals unless chasing an oddball holder.

However, there are a ton of quality of life features missing. Here are the ones I remember:
- While chatting, hitting the escape button performs unexpectedly. The menu opens instead of closing chat. Also, your typo'd chat comes back when you open chat again—requiring you to backspace it out.
- Lobby will tell you one thing, game will start a different mode. Were you excited for team deathmatch or swat? Sorry, it's oddball again.
- The maps don't seem to be designed on the same scale as the jetpack. Or vice versa. I'm constantly missing my jumps by a hair.
- !!! Mute only works for the round you're in. If you mute someone at the beginning, they un-mute when the game ends

Two 60GB patches so far (90GB on disk). Only at 26% updated.

Publisher needs to update their steam files. Why the heck do I have to download 200GB+ of data?

Buyer beware, return period will expire before game is fully downloaded.

Looks pretty fun.

Update: Friend is upset cause I left a negative review.

Game is fine. Download sucked, but the early game combat is fun. I recommend it.

I really enjoy how the "campaign" doesn't limit you for the sake of limiting you. You have access to all the blocks at the start and the progression is mainly for unlocking weapon power ups.

I do have a couple complaints, the editor doesn't have area selection or the ability to quickly set key bindings like Besiege. I wish you could use a connector or strut like Kerbal/Besige. And finally, I wish there was a toggle'able Splitter/Connector.

This is a great sandbox game and the content is great. I haven't experienced any bugs either.

I love zachtronic and have most of their games but ended up refunding this game until I have enough spare time to justify the price. This game has one fundemental flaw:

The instruction set is period (cycle) based, on a linear timeline. There is tons of confusion online about how the padding works because of this.

The initial tutorial "explains" this, but does it in a way that makes you think it's linear based, NOT period based. I hit a brick wall halfway through the first group of challenges because I couldn't wrap my head around it. Roughly 20 paragraphs of explanations I read online and I finally understood I was "taught wrong" by the game.

I can't justify spending so much money until I have enough free time to work through that. Otherwise, this game would sit in my library forever unused.
