Aggressive anti-cheat for what's mainly a singleplayer game. Big dumb.

Editing my review after having finished the game:
PLEASE GIVE US MORE HALF LIFE.

A game old friends would pour hours into.

The world oozes interesting lore, and the gameplay is deeply satisfying.

I miss it all, when it has come to a close.

Pros: Warband, but better.

Cons: Crashes a lot right now. The crash reporter, hilariously enough, will also crash.

The stealth mechanics aren't very fun. The guns are cool, but they give you almost no ammunition to play with with them. Killing Floor comes to mind with the same sort of horrible deformed monsters that you fight, but in Killing Floor they give you a lot more ammo.

It's a pretty game, but the amount of glare really gets in the way of seeing stuff. At the same time, the flashlights are pitifully low range (with the exception of the long-range flashlight, which is like a flood light).

I don't think it's a bad game, but I think that the consumable medipack and ammo packs should really do more. At the moment, a medipack usually has 3 uses and gives 20% health. If you have 4 players, that's basically nothing.

Same with the ammo pack, it gives about 20% ammo and averages 1 or 2 uses. Between 4 players, that's nothing.

The text chat lacks the ability to use the arrow keys to correct your text, and you can't CTRL+A (select all) to quickly overwrite a message. It also has a CRIMINALLY small character limit.

I wouldn't recommend the game as it is now. It's very bare-bones, and I don't feel like the balance is great.
Yeah it's hard, but it's not fun IMO.

Definitely the best hitch-hiking simulator on the market.

More of a fun exploration game rather than a survival game. Crafting mechanics are usually frowned upon in a lot of games, but it's not overbearing in Subnautica.

I've had a lot of fun in a little over 25 hours of play exploring the world (and lore!) of Subnautica, and I highly recommend it.
