'I'm Russia' could have been an indie hit if minor gameplay tweaks and proper promotion had been considered. I love the environments, namely the run-down apartment complexes and Soviet-era railways, and the character sprites are awesome. Be warned that its an unfinished game, albeit still in a playable state.

The lack of true multiplayer is a shame, especially for a game marketed that markets itself as a co-op experience front and centre on the Steam page. Currently, the only way to play with a friend is through couch co-op or Steam's Remote Play streaming option. If co-op is important to you, this game is better suited for console, where a large television screen would be more advantageous for screen sharing.

Guns are satisfying and have very nice RNG, ensuring you don't encounter the same gun repeatedly across random playthroughs. The curses add a unique and, most importantly, fun twist as you adapt your play style to new and ever-changing pressures. Blazing Beaks' difficulty progression is odd; Bogy, the second boss, is arguably harder for new players than the third and fourth bosses, until you figure out his attack patterns and realise how predictable his movements are. The knack for beating him didn't click for me after several attempts, so the jury's still out on whether that's just a skill issue of mine. Applava nailed the soundtrack, in all seriousness, although I wish biomes had a little more variety with the track list.

Bluebird will always be my favourite character.
