This is a game that is almost 7 years old (as of time of writing) and still getting quality of life changes aside from DLCs.

There's a variety of weapons but some of them are similar to others with some exclusive mods but there's that.

Heists are somehow similar to others but there are some heists that has their own thing and most heists can be done in different ways which adds a lot of replay value.

All heists can be done in solo which in a way can be harder or easier, depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Public games are fun sometimes for the randomness of it or teaching someone how to play the game. Playing this with people you know has always been the best to play it in my experience.

I currently have 966.5 hrs of playtime as of writing, you can say that I really did enjoy this game. I don't play this as often as I did back then but I still play this from time to time.

I would recommend this game. It goes on sale from time to time, sometimes every couple of months so if the price is too steep for you, you can wait for a sale. While the base game is there with some freebies, I would recommend getting the PAYDAY 2: Legacy Collection as it has the complete pre-2020 content as a bundle. The game also canonically ends at this.
2020 onwards content are extra content as Developers are having financial difficulties. Extra content being made as well as free QOL updates are always welcome for me.

November 2021 update: still pretty fun

> Arcade mode, fight request on
> Finished arcade mode, no challengers
> Change name to "I suck at this game"
> Can't even finish the first level due to challengers

+ Easy to learn, hard to master
+ Isn't heavy on the requirements. Can be be played by an average pc on low settings
+ Can be easily modded. Unwanted costumes, levels and music can be replaced
+ Lot's of online players
+ Pad friendly. If you don't like using your keyboard, any pc recognizable controller is usable
+ Dan Hibiki is playable
- Occasional hiccups when on single player and fight request is on
- Boss Seth has SNK Boss syndrome
- Online play is not bad but not good either. On same region you'll get good connection albeit with occasional hiccups. Otherwise expect some input delay and a lot of freezing

8/10 overall. Online is playable but can be improved

This would've been a good game. Love the comedic value and stuff. Too bad there are rarely any players. I only got connected to two players so far but haven't got enough to play the multiplayer. It seems it would have been a great game if the multiplayer is playable

2018 update:
I remember playing this back in 2013's open beta then stopped in 2014 due to the repetitive grinding. I tried playing again last month. It's still a lot of grinding but I love how there's a variety of what you can do now than just repetitively fighting the a boss for that frame part or doing that void defense over and over for that prime part. It's still that space ninja back then but expanded a lot: There are now actual stealth based missions, free roam area, quests, etc.

In terms of the cost, this is the most budget friendly F2P game that I have tried so far. You can get what most paying players but with more grinding. There platinum discounts that you can get as a login reward so you can choose to spend when you get that discount.

If you want a fast paced F2P coop game then this is something you can get into.

old 2013 review
As tvtropes describe it, "Mass Effect meets Crysis meets Ninja Gaiden, with a dash of darkSector, and more than a splash of Karas."
Go play it. Ninjas in space, what is more awesome than that?
