Review after the april 2024 update:

Nice game for when you get that Bethesda grind urge, Looks pretty on 1440 Bethini ultra, fov 100
Mods worked again 1 week after the update.

Minimum Recommended mods:
F4SE - dependency
Highfps physics fix - Lets you play above 60 fps without physics bugs, improves loading times between areas
Unofficial fallout 4 patch - Small bug fixes in quests etc
FallUI - Improves inventory management
You can get them on nexusmods

Overpriced, not enough reward on playtime investment. FreeOrion has better straightforward warfare. Deus ex machina superpowers snuff you out after all time investment if you're unlucky, mostly unbeatable without thirdparty intell outside of game.

Bad UI, never feel in control of imprecise overview map, nor battle.
Tedious micromanagement, bad AI auto manager.
If this is the best Total war, I don't have to play the others.
Overpriced.

update:
The kingdoms campaigns suffer from the same issues, very annoying to manage large empires by hand, menu workflow is bad, mouseclicks often dont register, units are unresponsive, often selecting the wrong one.

The battle graphics are quite nice when maxed out, the cities, trees and terrain look believable and picturesque

update 2:
After modding with stainless steel, which stays true to the original game play and only perfects and deepens the lore, I changed it to a buy, but it's still not a super good game, only buy on sale.

Gave it another whirl.
Installed Stainless Steel 6.3 + 6.4 patch + SS 6.4 fixes ( BugFix_Compilation_v1.27.7z )
+ SSHIP 9.2 + edited the configfiles unit detail is "highest" and not "higher", this prevents the ugly sprites. (it has to be done in the global cfg and in the stainless steel config)

This is proabbly as good as this game gets, and its more refined this way, better balance , historic names and factions, higher res map, more battle areas, more music very well done by the modders. More info can be found on the total war centre forums

Warning this game may be datamining you

Hello @DoctorDavinci, You are not the only one concerned. Unlike many here, I took the time to review the TOS and Privacy Policy from Take2 (new owner of KSP) and they state the following:

We may combine the information with your personal information and across other computers or devices that you may use.

So indeed, Take2 does collect information about you, your device and game play. A group of people do not mind since they are already "Huxley Slaves", if you do mind then there are a few options:

1- Do not update to the latest version

2- Block KSP from transmitting out any data from your device by using firewall rules

3- Install and play the latest KSP on a device that will never connect to the WEB

3- Submit a complaint to Take2:

Early Access Review
It still has horrible loading times, horrible server lag and packetloss, horrible upgrade path with loot box bs, but otherwise a pretty cool quake, a bit more colourful than quake 1/2/3, I'm glad I got it for free.

Relies on solving the puzzles in suboptimal ways, which is no fun for people who like elegance.

This Game is excellent it's my introduction to arma, and I will spend money on it in the future. tight, polished, serious, gorgeous. It's still a little bit buggy here and there with servers crapping out, but they'll iron it out. Highly recommended for someone who likes a serious shooter, I like the slower paced gametype Clash the most.

edit: they changed the game in ways I can no longer recommend it. just buy arma 3
